Right on! Now gotta find the big rainbow surfperch and pileperch that visit that area

I'll have to google those haha, but yeah man this is a hugely underrated/low key fishery!!!

@@RosinFlyFishingthey like docks. I've caught both right in Tofino

Nice work, they look like a good fighting fish and putting quite a bend in your 8wt. This is getting me so hyped for my upcoming trip! Fingers crossed I can get into a few.
@RosinFlyFishing2 жыл бұрын
They would be even better on a 5 or 6 weight. Get hyped and go hunting!!

Well done. I never would have thought of fly fishing in the West Coast surf but it looks like good fun (when the surf is small!).

Nice man hopefully a surfer karen gets up in your face and you catch a hundred perch 😎🤙

@@RosinFlyFishing I picked the wrong day the surf was way too big
@RosinFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
if that happens try a smaller stretch of beach, the surf is usually smaller. in Tofino where I went the surf was directly proportional to the expanse of the cove which is pretty neat!@@CA2CAoutdoors
@CA2CAoutdoors8 ай бұрын
@@RosinFlyFishing here it’s the direction the beach faces and there’s a swell so it would be a loooong drive to find it smaller I’ll try again in a few days
@RosinFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
@@CA2CAoutdoors oh cool I'm not an expert lol maybe the direction and the expanse and the geography are all critical variables 😂

Just use your 5 or 6 weight! Add a few feet of T8 sink tip for a dollar a foot at fly shop then you're ready! Those fish would be a better fight on a 5-6 :)

Completely new to me. Well Done. Do you think they were just in the surf line and it had something to do with the rocky outcrop.
@RosinFlyFishing2 жыл бұрын
My understanding is they hang out all in the surf and move around so I got pretty lucky. They feed on stuff churned up in the surf so could be anywhere! But I do also like the surf near rocks theory that I developed based on a single anecdotal experience 😂. Thanks Ian!
