I WENT INTO LABOR AT 27 WEEKS PREGNANT | MY PRETERM LABOR / NICU BIRTH STORY

I went into labor Christmas morning at 27 weeks pregnant and gave birth to my son on December 29, 2020 at exactly 28 weeks pregnant. This is my preterm /premature labor / NICU birth story. Please keep my baby in your prayers. Please pray for his health, that he doesn't have any long term complications, for as stress free of a NICU stay at possible, and for my heart during all of it. *UPDATE: Bennett is now almost 2 years old with absolutely 0 health issues whatsoever. You would never know he was born so prematurely! He spent 10 weeks in the NICU (I have more videos about that on my channel) and came home from the hospital on oxygen for a couple months, but since he has hit every milestone and is doing amazing. If you are reading this, I’m guessing you may be going through something similar and I am so sorry. ❤ you are strong, your baby is strong, you can do this! Stay strong! I had my baby at 28 weeks, 20 years ago during a nurses strike. He was 2lbs, 10oz at birth, & spent 6;weeks in the NICU. Fast forward, he graduated from high school at 16, college at 18, employed at 19 with a 6-figure salary, insurance and stock options in which he invests. It was hard to imagine how his life would be when I would visit him in the NICU, but micropreemies go onto live normal lives. Blessings to you all.

I had my daughter at 27weeks and the emotional and mental problems that comes with it I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy,coming home without a baby. She was only 2lb and had to live in then hospital for 3months. I tell you what! I work in a NICU and I just want you to know that I don’t think I’ve met a single person that works in the NICU that isn’t completely passionate about their job and dedicated to making sure that the babies are cared for so well and the parents are as involved in care and bonding as they can be💕 stay strong mama. I’m not sure all of them are that passionate about their job. My daughter was born at 27 weeks and stayed in NICU for 3 months. We did not have a good experience with most of the nurses from the NICU. However, we are still very grateful to have couple nurses who would advocate for our daughter’s care. One of the supervisors called me being “too sensitive” because I cried when my daughter was going through a code pink infront of me... She said “It is not a big deal. You need to go with the flow.” I was speechless!!! Som nurses were too “busy” with their breaks so they just tube fed my daughter all the time when she was able to take the bottle. My daughter had a severe infection due to poor hand hygiene. I almost lost her at that time. I ended up going there from 8am until midnight because I just couldn’t trust them with my daughter’s care! One time I showed up around 9am, the manager came out and said “Where were you in the morning? You were supposed to be here at 8. She needs a diaper change.” One morning I came and noticed that my daughter was crying and soaking wet. The nurses were chatting at the nursing station. I was so depressed at that time. The NICU experience caused our entire family even more depressed and hopeless. 😢

My daughter was 4lbs, 14oz, and she was born at 36wks after an unplanned induction (we later learned after she ended up being born via cesarean that her cord was around her neck). This was due to a beta blocker I had to be on, but still shocked me he was 4lbs, 2oz!! She was in the NICU but only for 9 days due to common late term preemie issues.

He will be just fine. I had my son last October at 23 weeks. He spent 95 days in the NICU and was discharged as a healthy baby. No surgeries, no delays, no health problems. I prayed and prayed and just believed that that he would be fine. I know exactly how you're feeling but the best thing for him is for you to be strong. Babies feed off our energy. My sister had my nephew at 24 weeks due to maternal sepsis. We were pregnant at the same time with boys and it made me so connected to her (this being her third and finally a boy and this being my first) I'm due in a couple of weeks(on Christmas) compared to her being due in three or so months after. Hearing the news from her broke me down so much that I couldn't think straight without crying so much. He's one pound and super tiny but beautiful and making great progress. Seeing him for the first time also broke me down. I had to limit how long I looked at his pictures and nicu webcam because I was a WRECK. Today he is about a week old and some change and he is doing so well 🫶🏾🙏🏾 my sister is in good spirits and healthy which is helping me process all this better now. I went into labor at 26 weeks and 5 days about 3 years ago. My son is doing incredibly well! You’re a strong mama for sharing your story and just like you I went into spontaneous labor with no warning signs prior to this. As soon as I started watching this I got emotional too. My water broke at 29 weeks and I was in the hospital for a few days before I started showing signs of infection and they took him at 30 weeks. It was a long road but my baby boy Daniel came home a few weeks before his due date and is thriving now at 18 months. This is such a reminder of everything with my baby.

Prayers for you and your family!!! I had my twin boys at 26 weeks and I was so scared because I had no idea what to expect and had no reference for how to handle what was happening. Just know it seems like you are alone, but you are not. Its ok to have ANY feelings that you feel. NICU doctors and nurses are from heaven. They become family (trust me, I was there EVERY day for those 13 weeks) and hopefully will do everything to comfort you and your family. Both of my boys weighed less than 2 lbs, one was 1 lb 8 oz and one was 1 lb 12 oz. now they are happy, healthy, noisy, bossy 4 year olds! Your baby boy will grow stronger and stronger day by day and you will come to be mystified by the weekly milestones that he will hit. This little boy just didn’t want to wait to see you! My daughter was early ... I ended up in the hospital for a week then when she was a premie at 5 weeks when they induced labor. For a day I felt nothing then all of a sudden I went from a 2 to a 7. Then it was chaos .... trying to find a doc to give the epidural then six hours later she was born. When these babies want to be born, they’re gonna be born! So my baby was a 5 week premie and she had to stay at the hospital for about 5 days. It is weird to not come home with your baby. My daughter was only a little over 5 pounds. We both were fine though at first they weren’t quite sure about her for a few minutes. You’re so out of it as a mom you really don’t know what’s going on. Well she is 24 now and is a teacher. Trust in God to guide those taking care of him. When my daughter was in NICU, I went and saw her twice a day and talked to her. My father would take me in the morning then I’d go with my husband in the afternoon. Before you know it, he’ll be home!

You’re doing really great..I delivered twins at 29 weeks at home 6 years ago they were identical twin girls I went into labor the day after my birthday March 28th. One of the twins was really sick and was stillborn my other daughter was born in her sac since the where in different sacs but she was 1.5 lbs and is doing beautifully she’s healthy and thriving. The emotional rollercoaster you are on is so hard. The way your feeling that you said your not pregnant but your baby isn’t with you is so true and impossible to describe. I’m glad your friend can help watch your 3 year old and just be there for you. I remember getting home one night from the NICU. My sister dropped me off. We stayed late because they let me help bathe him. I was so hungry and so tired I was half laying on the counter while my grilled cheese cooked. My husband was at work and I didn’t feel comfortable calling anyone to ask if they would come make me food. Your recovering. Try to take it easy. I didn’t have any round ligament pain in my second pregnancy. I had my first at 34 weeks and 4 days. I was on progesterone with my second to help not dilate early. I was 39 weeks when I had my second. She was bigger, low and so uncomfortable.

My first son was 39 weeks and weighed 4lbs 7oz. He was in the NICU for 1 night. My third was 36 weeks and weighed 4lbs 4oz and was in the NICU for 10 days! It is extremely hard to leave them, but he is getting the care he needs. I'm praying for your little boy and you to make it through this time and have an amazing story! ♥️

My son was born at 28 weeks/6days. He was just under 3lbs. He legit was blessed. Spent 7 weeks in the NICU and had no issues, just a grower. I was high-risk though around month 4 so I had preventative care in case I gave birth early so that legit helped TREMENDOUSLY, I thank GOD for my OBGYN and my High-Risk doctor. My son is now 2 years old and talking, running and so active! He counts to 25, knows his abcs, colors, shapes, types of cars/trucks, omg the list goes on. Stay positive, seriously. Being your baby #1 advocate and support really makes a difference. ✨🙏🏾

I started labor at 37 weeks, I was on blood thinners and high risk. There was nothing they could do for me bc I wasn’t full term. My labor lasted 4 days I gave birth at 37 weeks & 4 days! NICU team and many other doctors were in the room, I was terrified. I spiked a fever and had to be put on antibiotics bc there was meconium in my placenta( baby had pooped). High chance for an infection! He weighed 8lbs 4oz which they were shocked he was a heavy boy! He was in the NICU for 4 days. After 2 miscarriages I was so scared of losing another one:/ He is now 5 months old my rainbow miracle baby! Have faith mama, it will all be okay! I am so proud of how strong you were! Your baby has one strong mama! Sending you prayers!

Oh my gosh you sweet thing. I remember when I went into preterm labor with my twins. My water broke at 31 1/2wks. My labor was stopped. They were born a week later at 32 1/2wks. One weighed 3lbs 7oz the other weighed 3lbs 15oz. They were in the nicu for 3 wks until they gained enough weight. I felt your pain in this video. It is the most horrible empty feeling to leave the hospital without your babies. It was super hard and I suffered serious post partum depression. Take care of yourself. Let people know if you don't feel okay. Cry, breathe, and as hard as it may be find some time to relax until your baby comes home. He is in the best hands. Babies sense their mothers feelings, so do your best to be positive and happy when you go see him. My twins are now 25 yrs old. They suffered no complications, were perfectly healthy, no one would ever know they were premature. Sending you a big hug! God bless you and your baby!

Oh my gosh I randomly came across this video and I’m crying with you. When you said you haven’t gotten to hold your baby again since right after he was born but that’s okay because you want him to get healthy 😭😭😭 oh my gosh that absolutely broke my heart. My son was born at 24 weeks almost 3 years ago in June 2018. God I think all the mother feel the same when they have premature baby that they will never see their baby again but thanks Allah. I even had to travel to another town in ambulance cuz in our town they only have facilities for 28 weeks born. So I had my son away from home and left him there for months. We were told he might have disabilities and even not b able to see. I spent 5 months crying but it turned out he is just perfectly fine. Your baby will fine, it is stressful time but at the end you will be grateful and happy 😊

My baby girl's due date was November 24th she was born October 30th via medical induction. She's been in 3 different hospitals for different things. Our NICU stay is still going strong were 2 months in. I'm hoping our journey is almost over. I pray for you as people have prayed for us.

Hi! I had my baby at 26 weeks almost 12 years ago. There were many challenges but we got through it with God by our side. My son will be 12 at the end of this month and is healthy and academically ahead . I pray that your baby breaths well without much assistance and that the baby meets all the necessary health milestones to be discharged to go home with you. My son was in the nicu for 90 days. I had my babies (triplets) at 27+ weeks, and they'll be 26 this summer... Two boys and a girl and they're all perfect!!! They had a few delays (mostly speech) but no disorders and I honestly feel the same outcome for you. It's so hard when they're in the NICU, I know. Awww...he is so beautiful! You are in my prayers for sure! I went into active labor with my second at 20 weeks. I was so blessed that the magnesium stopped the labor and I carried her full term with a repeat C-section. Pre-term labor is so scary. My husband is a medic and I was so blessed he was home that morning and acted quickly. Otherwise, I would have just stayed in bed thinking it was just another bad day in that pregnancy. I had a baby at 32 weeks and was 4 lbs 5 oz I can tell you I know how you feel! The tears, the walking through the hospital halls to visit your baby, the leaving the hospital, the pain of not holding him. All of that is normal Real feelings!! Those NICU nurses are angels. They are so good! Our boy made it and is healthy and one of our strongest kiddos! We WILL be praying for him and for you! Make sure you get rest too when you can! And the day he can come home is a huge celebration!! Ours had to pass some tests before he could. He was able to come home 3 weeks after delivery. Hang in there Lauren. Bless this story. My wife and I just had our baby 2 days ago. Baby girl phoenix was born at 26/27 weeks 2.49 lbs. I'm 2 and a half hours away from my wife and daughter becausei had to return to work. My wife has been discharged but our daughter will be in there until her original due date. Luckily they have a Ronald McDonald house on campus so she is close. But it kills me not to be there. I'm doing research since I'm not there to talk to the doctors anymore. Prayers for you and your son!

I just stumbled across this video. And by the title I can't watch ( will ball like a baby I can just tell ) but I want to say, my daughter was born at 29 weeks. They told me to honestly not look for the best but the worst. They told me she might not breath. But she came out SCREAMING. She stayed in the NICU for 5 weeks, she was on all sorts of wires and machine's to help her eat. But she was able to breath on her own from the jump. That was 4 almost 5 years ago. And you would never be able to tell my sweet little girl had to fight literally for her life just to be here! Your son will do amazing things!!! All he needs is you and your love!

I’m so sorry to hear about your baby. My eyes were tearing 😢 hearing you talk about it. My daughter had her first baby at 20 weeks but he was still born. I was there with her and her husband. I saw him being born. It was so hard to see that happen. We got to hold him after she gave birth to him. But that’s so awesome that he’s still alive.
