I'm not from HK and never lived there but I am Cantonese Chinese. The place didn't seem that rude to me at all. It sounded like friendly banter, maybe flirting with you but I think more jokingly. I've been to Vietnamese restaurants here in the US where they seat you and then come over immediately and expect you to order. I don't think it's rude, they just offer a few things and expect you to know.

This made me somehow to remember a Chinese restaurant which was in Helsinki Finland and had a little similar mentality. The owner was a Chinese woman in her late 50s who didn't talk but shouted all the time. She looked to be a good organizer and the food there was delicious. We called that restaurant as "Shout Chinese" with my co-workers :D

I'm live in Bangkok. I've been to HK about 6 times. By international hospitality standards (if there is one), I'd say this restaurant is a bit mechanical in terms of their unemotional tone, but not to the point of rude. I think restaurants in HK are in generalof similar tone if they're busy. I've been to a rude restaurant in HK on my last trip there. The waitresses were like a little bit older than teenagers, and for some reason they just don't bother to follow-up my order no matter what. My only interaction with them prior to waiting for my order is just casually ordering food from the menu just like everyone else. This restaurant is just across from the Holiday Inn in Gowloon. A trendy western food joint that gave me the most intriguing negative vibe ever simply because there were no negative interactions with anyone there that could've been considered as a catalyst for the unexplained shunning of services. Needless to say, I eventually bought my lunch elsewhere. Maybe past lives are a real thing and somehow our paths crossed under poor circumstances back then??? 😮😮😮 I 'll never really know.

Flushing it down w a coffee or milk tea in say 15-20mins. Wait until you see a waiter/waitress get an item/order wrong, you will definitely hear rudeness from the kitchen staff/manager/boss.....scolding are delivered aloud consisting of all swear words in one sentence/go in front of all customers😢見怪不怪 and that's 香港茶餐廳style Gosh, I missed HK Cafe food😂

welcome to the realistic world of local Hong Kong restaurant! That's the way most of these restaurant operates, food is being served quickly and the bill will be placed on the table once the food has been ordered as these places don't really want the customer to sit for too long plus they will make good usage of spaces, thus a lot of times you will have to share table with someone if you are entering one of these restaurants during breakfast, lunch and dinner time. Personally (as a Malaysian Chinese), I don't think HK'ers are being deliberately rude. It's just their preference in being straightforward, especially given how fast-paced and hectic life in HK can be. And I find that quite refreshing, since I can count on them to speak their mind. Likewise, sharing tables with others it's pretty normal in Asia (after all, we are just there to have a meal). If we one some privacy, we can always go to higher-end restaurants, where we can reserve our own table. PS: I spent seven days straight ordering their omelette sandwiches to-go. The rest of their menu items is pretty underwhelming, not worth seating in there.

This type of restaurant was existed in London China Town for over 30-40 years. I am not sure whether it still exists or not, the name is called Wong Kok (旺角). When the food arrives, they just throw the plate on the table, not in front of you, you just need to go pick it up. Also, their tables are shared. When they delivered the food to you, if it happens to be wrong, he will just bluntly said NOODLE IS NDDOLE. However their foods is good and cheap.
