@thabzmad72653 ай бұрын
Smaller batteries doesn't mean lower range. Battery technology is evolving all the time meaning that you will be able to get more range from less materials. The ultimate popular goal for the next 5-10 years being the Solid State type. With up to ( even more than) 600 miles per application. Various chemistry combinations can already reach that range, though in China estimated ranges which are typically up to 100 miles over optimistic.
@davewilson76023 ай бұрын
It makes sense especially when you realize many of the smaller Hondas especially will be bought by people who go around the city they live in, but not on long road trips often. Making the batteries smaller and lighter helps maximize interior space utilization and lowers cost and weight which is perfect for city cars

That is where this is heading. It is very neat and innovating and I'm sure will be safer but in my eyes its a business model praying on the consumer... end rant

not sure why that Accord looks so good, but it does. I'm really looking forward to Honda getting balls-deep into EVs. Always happy to see what Mazda, Honda and Toyota, my top-3 brands, are developping. I'm really underwelmed by the Honda e cluster, immitading other combustion products. I guess I'd have to try it. What I really can't appreciate are non-powertrain-related technology implementations, especially with respect to AI and facial recognition. I can't believe companies are spending so much money on developping technology that no one wants. If I had a physical metal key to unlock my door, manually wind down my window, twist-adjust my rearview mirrors, lower my mechanical handbrake lever, select the PRND via mechanical lever and manage at my analog gauges, that would be totally perfect. I'd much rather they focus on making the car fully recyclable or compostable, refine the battery tech, lower overall weight, reduce manufacturing cost, increase bodyshell corrosion resistance, give it mk1 Lotus Elan-like steering feel. Ya know...the important stuff. No one actually wants convenience tech and I don't think driving (or anything for that matter) should be so convenient for humans, unless you've lost the use of your limbs.

But the Integra Type S trademark was filed back in August 2021 and that car was eventually revealed in April 2023. It’s gonna be a while before we see the new RSX. Great video. It's exciting that Honda are FINALLY working on EVs. Problem: "They intend to be making 100% EVs by 2040." 2040???? As in TEN YEARS TOO LATE? What's World-Changing? - HONDA DOES SOFTWARE! That's exciting! And it's a first: Japan's tech marvel companies do NOT do software well. Subaru's Eyesight system is a really good level 2 driver assist system. NOT autopilot, but great lane-keeping & cruise control. But Honda appears to be light-years ahead of any software I've seen from a Japanese company, except maybe Sony. Is Sony collaborating on this project? Over-the-Air Updates? Kirk flashes past this without comment. WTH? He didn't ask? If Honda copies Tesla with constant ON-GOING OTA updates, that's SIGNIFICANT! Honda can flash straight to the head of the pack amongst Tesla competitors. From "What-the-hell happened to Hon... Hona... what was the name of that company?" - to #2. Overnight. No one else does OTA updates. Want the new updates in a VW EV? Buy a new one! Only Tesla does this. Anyone who truly wants to compete with Tesla MUST do this. Sounds like - maybe? - Honda will. But having the capability doesn't automatically translate into committing to a constant update policy. C'mon Kirk: tell us you asked about this. Welding Innovations - FRAME construction! The return to frame construction is SIGNIFICANT. I'd buy it for this alone. It was a major benefit of buying a Saturn. Nearly every steel car is built with unibody construction - shaped curved sheet metal. Full frame construction gives you a MUCH safer car. I'm thrilled to hear that Honda is doing this. If they're committed to full-frame construction, why not use composite body panels like Saturn did? (& the Corvette still does). You get a car that doesn't rust & is infinitely easier to repair (& at lower cost) than with sheet metal! Add to that it would reduce the weight of the car. We're thrilled to hear that battery tech appears to be headed for 1 million mile lifespan, but it means nothing if the car rusts out in 5 years. Some of us live in Canada - not California or Texas. Rust is a major issue. I want to see someone quit building cars out of rusting sheet steel, & use composites instead. Battery protection Does this megacasting demonstrably protect the battery? The very last thing anyone wants is to be incapacitated in an accident & essentially trapped in a car with a Lithium fire. Replaceable? Is the battery replaceable? We want to hear that Honda is designing with service in mind. That means engineering joined at the hip to a bevy of really experienced mechanics. Good video. Sounds like Kirk had a blast. He's summarized a lot of info pretty well. I'm excited to hear what's coming, and to hear they'll be built in Canada. Disappointed with the time-line though.

I sold my Honda stock a few years ago when it became clear to me that Honda was falling farther and farther behind in the experience curve, first to Tesla and also to Chinese companies like BYD and Geely. With an electric car, 50% of the work is the last 10% of the software. Tesla’s Model X is now the top selling car in the world, and Tesla is expected to introduce the first major redesign of that model next year. The fact they didn’t bring it out this year suggests to me that probably they were waiting until they could be assured of a sufficient volume of next generation batteries to justify retooling four manufacturing plants making their most profitable model. It is this redesigned car and its peers that Honda’s new models will have to compete with.

Honda is only brand that has my full blesings support to go fully electric 😂. Thier 1.5t engine which they shove in almost all of their cars is soo bad they might as well ditch it and go fully electric with no remorse.
