I live there on Luther houses because you can see that all made out of concrete, break, cinderblocks, and rebar. So if they do evacuate the island, they can come back to their homes still standing.

Another densely populated, small island that comes to mind is Migingo Island in Lake Victoria. According to demographics, 131 people lived there in 2009...on an island that's only *.002 squared kilometers* which makes it have a density of 65,500 per squared kilometer. Migingo has been in the middle of a dispute between Kenya and Uganda, where control of it has gone back and forth between each other. While Uganda has admitted the island is on the Kenyan side of Lake Victoria, they don't want Migingo fishermen to illegally fish in Ugandan waters, as they view the Nile perch who live in the lake as economically important.

Many people here live in squalor because of that mentality, mainly people who dont pay for the service that kind of mentality. Ah yes, my favorite football player...Slovak Charles Leclerc. When everyone you know is 2 mins away, you have no choice but to love one another. What a gift. There's an island off the coast of southern Haiti that's even MORE dense, called Ilet a Brouee. There, 500 people live on an island that's only .4 hectares/.004 squared kilometers. If you do the math, the density is 125 THOUSAND per squared kilometer! Insane, but respect to the people who live on these islands for striving to make it places to be, showing that anything is possible as long as you believe.

This island reminds me pretty well of the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong, a place that was very densely populated and was the most densely populated place in the world! Because of the peculiarity of this place (it didn't belong to neither UK, nor China) it was a lawless place with high criminality (a place ruled by the Triads)! Today, the City doesn't exist anymore, it is today a memorial park. I didn't knew that there are still "Walled Cities" in the world! Pretty interesting! And a very good documentary from PPPeter! Puts a new spin on "I'll be there in a minute". This 18-year-old kid just cut a full-grown man's hair with nothing more than a razor blade and a comb, and managed to get a decent result out of it? That's both impressive and crazy af. Despite low resources, loved seeing the locals just smiling and being there for each other as a community. Love the message at 12:02, "The islet is the center of the ocean, but we are the ocean". No matter how dirty, small or difficult their island lifestyle is, they're still proud of who they are, and aim to make a difference.

I was there during a mild storm and people stay, they just go to sleep on the second floor of their homes or neighbors, the island get flooded maybe to shin level and they are used to that. They use had residues to keep growing the island, they fill with conch, crab skeletons trash and sand, they do this little by little to expand, you can see that in 1:09 (lower left).

Why would you wanna visit it though, it's just an island favela. I was there a few years ago because the boat company that took us to this other famous island close by tricked us into visiting this one on the way back (stopping the boat there and charging people an entrance fee). They have this open aquarium thingy which is just sad, all the cramped animals in small pools.. Colombia has way better things to visit tbh

They are used, they have the basics, they are safe, they have their families, their unique culture... I find harder to believe how much material things many "need" to be happy, and even having it all, still are depressed, lonely, sad... Humanity needs to learn from this kind of societies.

About 40% of the houses have septic tanks, but that's only for convenience. 100% of the human waste end up in the ocean. 'Hard' trash is boated to a landfill on the nearby island.
