I’d say the only issue here is that, it’s your customer, not your friend so don’t use any of the endearing terms that are seen as not so much in other cultures or just not at all since they don’t know each other and it’s weird. actually in spanish we tend to call our loved ones like that, i mean, for example my mom used to call me "gorda" (fatty) in a nice way when i was a child and she still calls me like that sometimes. it's like saying sweetheart or darling. of course it depends on the context but i don't think the woman meant it in a wrong way.
