This is one of my favorites. First heard it in Oakland at Henry J. Kaiser auditorium in 87 . My daughter was born in 92. I was in Arizona when I got news that he had passed. I then saw the Dead at RFK and Bruce Hornsby was on Key boards. Love the song. You are missed my friend Wish you and Jerry were still here on earth. Fare Thee Well tour would have been wild had you both been here. RIP

Hey there LoloYodel, thank you for all the amazing Dead you post. Brent, for me, never disappoints even to this day♡ His eccentric voice gives and always gave me the chills...and I think the best keyboardist I can think of...I went on tour beg 1989, so I caught so much stellar Brent I consider myself lucky for that. I'm not a parent so on our Dead Project I dedicated this cover I did to my Dad! But I feel this song could be abt anyone...it is so special & the lyrics speak volumes. Thank you for your annotations...you really know how to get the info out there. I do the annotation job on the Feel Good Cafe' DEAD Project and it's more like research esp if the song is originally "traditional." It's more work than most think but I love learning more & more! I ♡ everyone's comments below too...Brent will always live on in my ♡...Kim

Little girl lost in a forest of dreams, It's a dark old wood, and it's damp with dew. Hoot owl hoots, for a moment it seems Something big and cold got a hold of you. Just when everything gets scary, Daddy's coming round for his darling again. Hold my hand with your little fingers. Daddy's loving arms gonna gather you in. Ain't no way the bogeyman can get you. You can close your eyes, world's gonna let you. Your daddy's here, and never will forget you. I will take you home. I will take you home. Gonna carry you back home in my arms. I will take you home. Long is the road we must travel on down, Short are the legs that will struggle behind. I wish I knew for sure just where we're bound, What we'll be doing, and what we're gonna find. Wherever we go, there'll be birds to cheer you. Flowers to color in the fields around. Wherever we go, I'll be right here near you. You can't get lost when you're always found. Ain't no fog that's thick enough to hide you. Your daddy's gonna be right here beside you. If your fears should start to get inside you, I will take you home. I will take you home. Gonna carry you back home in my arms. I will take you home. ~ Brent Mydland ~ John Perry Barlow ~ Grateful Dead (1988)
