Great vid Austin. I have been working on some CTRLR panels for some 1990s/early 2000 pedal boxes. I have been thinking about building a CTRLR panel for a midi based pedal box switcher. Thought I would add this comment because people may not be aware that you can add in really fantastic DAW integration with midi controlled pedal/guitar boxes.

Well... I got into this back in 2019 with Strymon pedals and a MIDI controller. A real faff to get it all working correctly; MIDI, sync, patch bay Ins/Outs, complicated and tricky. Once done, fantastic sounds and but... Its the recall that is the issue for me. 👀🤔 Great video by the way!

i have a couple cheap ones i dont use i dont like the work flow but i watch a bunch of videos on pedals to get ideas for effects. the rack in ableton makes it really streamline to come up with stuff and map it to a few macros and save it. even just mapping stuff from 1 plugin to the same knob can change how i use it. but i enjoying playing around like that when im uninspired

I really love use pedals in the studio, just makes me work different than when I’m just riffing in the pc

It is much easier to automate pedals in real time and I haven't really found any plugins that will mimic what these pedals are doing.

I love using my pedals in the studio! Would love to know how you get them back in the DAW and then hear everything since you turned your monitoring faders off.

My input 7&8 (where the pedals come back in my interface) has a fader raised on my output 1&2 (main monitors) in the RME total mix console.

You forgot to mention that there are a great deal of pedals that don’t have the necessary headrooom to handle line level.

All of the ones I'm using are fine, but in that case just get a reamp box

Also boost pedals can usually attenuate the signal as well as boost. Moog’s boost minifooger has this ability. I put that after my distortion pedals and will turn it down before sending to any delay or reverb pedals. It’s also true bypass, which is super nice as well.
