Omg you took me so far back. I bought that same car brand new when I went to college. The same year, trim level, and color (interior and exterior). If I would have known that she’d still be running I would have saved her for my son that’s now bugging me to buy him a Charger. And he’s so excited and telling everyone about his new Charger that his mom is buying him for Xmas . He has posters all over his bedroom wall. He even said mom, you don’t have to buy me a hellcat. A regular charger will be fine because I know they are expensive. How thoughtful of my beautiful son. I can’t wait for him to see his brand new charger for Christmas. He’ll be able to plug it in and charge his phone so quick.

My Dad has a 2000 Honda Civic with 400,000 Miles and one day he drove it to town 30 miles back and forth completely out of oil and made it and the engine still runs has a bit of a rod knock but nothing to obvious or obnoxious but still has the original motor that came in it from new just replaced all belts and all fluids automatic transmission still shifts nicely and smoothly

Nice, I have a 1997 Civic with 355K miles on the original engine and automatic transmission too. Still runs and drives as good as new, not even a single rattle. Even most of the little stuff like the starter, alternator, AC system, cooling fans, struts, etc are original and still fully operational. It's so impressive how well these classic Hondas hold up!

Thank you for sharing this little car with us. I'm glad to see it getting some love instead of just being disregarded and sent to the crusher. A little appreciation for lasting so many decades. I also really like that Jimmy. I've rebuilt a couple of S10 pickups, and mechanically they're pretty similar. It will make a good truck for someone. The parts for them are very cheap, and plentiful to be sure.

Maybe another KZbinr wants to take on fixing the A-pillar and roof. It seems a shame this car will be scrapped. It seems like a near impossible job, but you never know what people can do. Fix that and the front fender and it would be a good car. It will never be perfect again, but it deserves to be back on the road given how well it runs and drives and the A/C even works. It's cars like this that gave Honda its reputation.

Randy, you had one of the absolutely had one of the best channel ever on KZbin when you got the viper, Chevelle, Humvees, Porsche, Mercedes, Ford, incredible variety, road trips with monkey wrench mike, car shows, The vintage dealer in Chicago mixed in with your usual call part walk arounds! When you thought you were losing views because of content! WRONG! Even Hoovie complained about losing views! and many many other KZbinrs as well! it was not your content! Could be the time of year, could be KZbin issues! you didn’t need to dramatically change your content!

These late 80s Hondas are absolutely indestructible. I drove an 89 Civic throughout high school and college to 420,000 (original engine/tranny, 50+ mpg), AND it was still running fine when I sold it. Honda just doesn't make cars like they used to.

If someone had the means to fix the body and windshield that would probably be a nice little gas saver for getting around town. As nice as the interior still looks and how it still drives, personally I’d hate to see it parted out. Who ever buys this car will definitely part it out. The ac system alone would pay for the car. These Ef civics cost a pretty penny right now($2k-$5k) depending on the condition. Most of them don’t have ac. Parts are hard to come by at the moment as well because the junk yards don’t have these cars in stock. I’ve seen guys take the ac systems from the eg 92-95s but even those are hard to come by.

In 2002, I bought a 1989 Honda Accord Lx-i with standard transmission with 188,000 miles on it for $2500. In 2008 the engine had to be replaced. I drove it another 13 years because I liked it, and hated the idea of buying a different car. The thing that finally killed it was the accelerator cable housing and cable broke. Such a simple part of the car finally forced me to buy another car.
