I owned a 2010 Azera for three years. Loved the car to death. One thing to check on the Azera's though is the CV Axle boots in the front. Working at a Hyundai dealer, I see a lot of these generation Azera's with that issue as well as my own. But other than that, these were amazing cars if they were well maintained. If I remember correctly, the gray key is the valet/spare key. The black key is the master key. Both keys should work in the ignition. This car is amazing. Congrats!

@billdavis17303 жыл бұрын
I knew that Azera would be spiffy after a detail! Nice car and a bargain! The "ESC OFF" light on the dash is for the Electronic Stability Control. There is a button on the lower dash to left of wheel (panel you glued back in place) that you depress to shut ESC Off. You must have pressed it after initially starting the car. When you restarted back at the shop, the ESC light was off as the system defaults to ESC On when started. Maybe with the ESC OFF it allowed you to do the burn-out! Good luck at IAA, she is a good one.
@renebergqvist5993 жыл бұрын
You are right. I had the European Sonata version same engine and most of the interior. It is a very nice comfortable car. Yep with the ESC on it won't do a burnout - the ESC is in fact very nanny like. The car is actually pretty fast compared to many sedans and you can launch it pretty efficiently by holding 3000 rpm with the brake. This builds a lot energy in the flywheel and torque converter and makes it fly off. I actually miss that car - very comfortable and trustworthy. Very silent if you don't push it and great on the motorway for the longer trips.

Randy, I appreciate your honesty in the repair and while I am not positive it looks like you remove 2 bolts and lift up the side of the dash and remove 3 bolts that hold on the broken "triangle" bracket and then off to LKQ. That is a great car and someone will be very happy with it for sure.

Randy, glad you got this Azera. This is so much better than the Camry/Avalon of the same time. Forces Toyota to work even harder on their car designs. Hyundai of this time frame really wowed and stunned the automotive world when Toyota was top around the world. This was also around the time when Toyota was under fire for the 'unintended and uncontrolled acceleration' that caused one of the biggest factory recalls in their history and they had to face the Supreme Court for the defects that spanned as far back as 1998. But I really wish you would keep this one. If Jessica likes it, why not let her drive it? Keep it for a year or so and then turn around.

Electronic Stability Control issue could be a wheel speed sensor. I had a hub go bad on a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Scan for codes and verify it is clear and review the history to make sure the issue doesn't pop up later. Hyundai had a change in leadership around 2005 when the son of the former chairman took over the company and decided to put quality first. Their workmanship really truly improved in the 2006 model year.

I knew about the Azera. It is a nice car. This car (which was also called the Grandeur in some markets and replace the previous model Grandeur model in the USA called the XG (which was also a nice car) )came out in 2006 which was the start of well made Hyundai cars. Sadly this car did not really sell because it looked too much like the same era Sonata (which was cheaper). I think one year only 1200 were sold here. They came out with a full refresh a few years later that also did not really sell because yet again it looked too much like the same year Sonata. Still they are great cars. The only issue these really suffer from is the harmonic balance separates and causes the belt to pop off. They used metal and rubber for them. But it is a simple repair, you unbolt the old one and bolt the new one up. It is a 10 min or so job.

I've never cared for the Camry either. I have no skin in this game lol all for fun.
@WoZIMoo3 жыл бұрын
We had an 07 Camry 2.4 and an 07 Santa Fe 3.3. The Santa Fe was better built, Camry had rattles from new that were never fixed, the interior parts are cheap snapped-in parts that can be easily removed by hand. The transmission would always jerk the car on takeoffs and would slip when using cruise control (bad TCM programming) and the thing drank oil by 50,000 miles (well-documented issue). We sold it at 109k miles and it would drink 3 quarts between 3k mile oil changes. The Santa Fe never used a drop of oil even at 150k miles. Toyota makes great cars but not perfect cars like people make them out to be, where as Hyundai has been growing and getting better exponentially with time.
