That Carly gives you information that I was told only the BMW dealership could give you. Second those rod bearings fail because people run those cars too hard before they are up to temperature. Oil doesn’t do its best lubricating until it’s at operating temp which for the oil is somewhere around 225*.

The car limits the revs for this very reason. The car won't let you rev it too high until it's warmed up so that isn't an issue at all.

Incorrect. It's a design flaw on BMW M engines from this era. All these cars suffer from it, from the E39 M5 to the E46 M3, to this car.

@@RyanRoadReaper It wasn't a straight up design flaw. People did rev them too hard when cold, that's where most of the damage came from. The copper bearings were a mistake, but not a straight up desgin flaw.

@@saimk4239 exactly, not mentioned here, but doesn't the S85 use 10w60 oil. Lol, that alone means you better be warming that sucker up 30-40 mins before redlining it, which I am sure most people with an M5 DON'T do. I don't fully blame the copper bearings at all.

Gotta love E60 M5, a car everyone dreams to own but is so scared to own including myself. They aren’t super bad as people make them seem, keep the oil changed on time, warm it up properly before driving which is why the rod bearings always fail because people never change them or never treat the car right. Interesting fact, the S65 V8 from the M3 E90/2 is basically this engine with 2 cylinder chopped off!

That's a really good looking car and price. I mean inflation is real. And the powder coated wheels is a great choice. Iv painted and had them coated. Iv actually had longer lasting less chips from actual paint from a gun paint. But still powder coating is great.

Actually a really good looking car. I’ve had a couple BMW’s. An F10 535i which kept breaking as soon as it hit over 70k miles and a well used Z4 which never stopped leaking oil. I’d own one again but It would be late 90s era or have to have a really really good service history. I think you got one of the good ones since this one shows to have a bunch of the work already done.

Get you a 96-04 5 series. The engines are bulletproof minus some issues (oil pump nuts backing themselves off at high rpm, DISA valves breaking and sending plastic throguh your motor, etc...) The autos suck cause they're GM transmissions, so keep that in mind.

I love this car but my BMW 740 IL made me buy a Honda. Windshield with radar 1200. Alternator 700 for the part. Brakes (rotors and pads) 2k. Tires done in 25k I put 4 sets on. I could afford it but wow! Expensive! It went over 200k though! My Honda Pilot 325k. Both sold running!
