And I have a feeling it will last longer than a turbo 2.5l that lugs the same weight around. Longevity is big thing for a True Povo like me. Even if more cars have autopilot systems or even just crash avoidance systems, some manufacturers seem to put them into tiers. You want crash avoidance for cars, that's the safety pack* (only available on the premium models). Would you like the one that avoids bikes as well, that's the safety plus pack. Oh, really, you want to avoid pedestrians also, well you'll be needing the safety plus ultra pack. _1. Safety systems should not be relied upon for crash avoidance_ _2. Safety system deployment may result in accidents_ _3. Disabled sub-optimal safety systems will be re-enabled upon starting your car. Our programmers are real a*seholes_

Not for these large SUVs. Look at the Ford Everest, 2.0 4cyl diesel, just 157kw but more importantly 500nm or torque. Class leader, kills the V6 competitors. You need torque for these 4x4s, that's what's useable. The new Everest destroys the Pathfinder.
@Alaster-
@Alaster- 2 жыл бұрын
@@M4rt_FX on paper sure. The TD engines have way more torque, but so do the petrol turbos. As for responsiveness, if you're driving with size 15 Blundstones the lack of throttle control likely doesn't matter. But the TD engines all fall into the same trap as the T petrol engines - lag, poor fuel eco vs rated, and worse, the damned DPF!!! Had my time with them, not going back unless dragged.

Having worked with ADAS systems almost exclusively for the last several years, I will happily say that Nissan's ADAS implementation is attrociously bad in comparison to just about every other semi-autonomous system on the market. The really sad thing is, they use the same Bosch-designed system almost everyone else does. It's an incredibly capable system; they've just implemented it very poorly. I also recently had the...experience...of driving a 2021 Nissan Sentra for several months as a rental vehicle. It drove nicely for what it was, but the tactile interface layout and design was awful. None of the button layouts made any sense, there was no immediately recognizable physical definition to common or critical buttons and switches, and I frequently found myself having to take my eyes off the road to verify otherwise routine and mundane tasks. I could yammer on about the fake-shifting CVT, or the target-locking radar-guided adaptive cruise and forward collision system that would emergency-brake for vehicles not even in my lane, but I think at this point, the real takeaway here is: Don't buy a Nissan.

Last time I took the Murano to get serviced, saw an alarming number of new Pathfinders in the bay, one still had the temporary license plate on it. I remember test driving a Subaru Outback which was 'equipped' with Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist (or whatever they call it). The first question I had for the salesman before leaving the lot was "Can I turn that crap off?" I find it somewhat counter-productive for manufacturers to spend millions of dollars designing, developing and installing 'features' which are supposed to take over control of the vehicle from drivers who are distracted by other 'features' the manufacturers spent millions of dollars developing and installing which were designed in a manner that distracts the driver! The upside is that the consumer gets to spend more money for this 'privilege'.

The Toyota and Honda engines of similar size are much beloved. They are smooth, quiet, make a lovely sound when revved, and are quite reliable and durable. Perhaps you guys just don't drive fast enough down there to appreciate it. Although Toyota is phasing theirs out in favor of a new 2.4 L four-cylinder turbo hybrid. So their days are numbered

They're stuck with the same engine because they're probably very broke and don't really have much else to chuck in them. By god they're rough as guts. Pity about the PF, the first 2 gens were very tough, kind of respectable enough shitboxes that did a basic job for not a lot of money. Sort of the off-brand Hilux of its type and by the early 2000's 3rd gen they just became mall crawlers of unremarkable dullness. I think the 4th gen and its jatco-bomb-box was probably emphasised as it was ALL you could get in them- no auto or manual option so they subsequently all turned into grenades.

The FWD biased AWD system is evidently [reports out of USA] carried over from the R52, as is the similar ride height and squishy underbelly. Making anything more than dirt tracks, grass campsites and icey roads off limits. Beaches and any decently washed out dirt road is going to be a real struggle for this "ground up" refresh... Still take that V6 over the turbo 4 though.

Disagree with the motor. All the manufacturers now didn't change any of their engines since 2008.maybe small change here or there that's all. All what the manufacturers do is change in shape interiors add more technology and that's it. The car is very good also to be considered baby Patrol. That's enough for me

I remember looking and driving a Japanese made R51, but when I went to buy a bit later, they moved manufacturing to Spain. You could tell, and I believe even the R51 was "sh#t" from then on.

Totally disappointed with Nissan with what they did with the new Pathfinder. I was looking forward to them realizing the horrible mistake of turning a truck based off road SUV into a raised family station wagon. They totally missed the mark with the new Pathfinder. They lied to the public and tried to give it a image of some off road adventurer but it was nothing more than the same previous model with exception of a non CVT transmission. They need to: 1.) Go back to rugged truck based frame. 2.) Go back to making it primary rear wheel drive. 3.) Go with locking differentials along with modern 4x4 modes 4.) Focus on ride comfort on and off the road suspensions (The only compromise it should consider for mass appeal.) They missed the mark by not making it "almost" capable as a 4runner yet with a modern transmission and better gas mileage. I hope Toyota does not miss the mark when they release the next generation 4runner. 4runner only needs a few more gears for fuel efficiency and a smaller engine with turbo. Aside, from that why mess with anything else?

You think the old Pathfinder was made for the United States market? No; it was just a terrible vehicle designed by Renault. It was not a big seller here; the only way they did sell them was by using the standard Nissan playbook of the past 20 years. Which is to say low down payments and allegedly favorable financing

Pathfinder was an excellent car 20 years ago. I had one and did 350,000 kms in it. Good off road, low range box, great looking too. Before that I had a Patrol, I was a Nissan fan. When that R52 piece of shopping trolley crap came out I couldn't believe it. Then a V8 petrol Patrol came out...WTF? They stopped making cars I was interested in and lost a pretty loyal customer.

Many people rather have an old school and reliable v6, compared to a small turbo. More thing to go wrong in the long term. Marketing departments are in the business of making spin, and will do so every time there is a new model. It is so predictable John with call out the same BS, every time. Am I the only one sick of the criticism every time. It's like complaining the evening news says 'good evening' every night.

R51 was a proper 4wd, selectable low range and 4wd, (I know, I have one) and built as a wagon version of a D40 chassis. But you're missing the main point, that fucking Renault collaboration. The YD25 is a dog that should be taken out back and shot! Ask any R51 or Navara D40 owner. I know a mechanic that specializes in rebuilding said YD25s, he owns 3 houses. (serious) The r52, we can all agree was a major departure and unlike it's former brethren was not a wagon version of it's ute brother the D23 as the D40 was to the R51. Then Nissan announces the Nissan Terra (wagon) which is the brother of the D23 (ute) but not available in "Stralia" (said in a Cadogan voice) I feel bad to the poor mongrels OS that got the Terra, with an 05' Renault engine, it had the same YD25 dog from the R51, not the relevant 2.3 twin turbo from the D23! Yep sounds great! Renault has and will be the death of Nissan and Mitsubishi to follow shortly thereafter! Automation, self-driving etc will never happen in yours or my lifetime, mark my words. Not to say it's not possibility, but the liability is the issue. Guarantee it will never happen until people realize a life is worth less then simple convenience. I have lost all faith in Nissan years ago, they have lost the plot, or at minimum the direction of their company and tech used there in. I'll stick to my old datto's. 1000, 1200, 1600 forever!
