If a man ever hits you, leave. He WILL do it again. If a man ever cheats on you, leave. He WILL do it again. If a man lies to you, leave. He WILL do it again. Something my father said to me on my 13th birthday.

My ex fiancé cheated on me and I found out and immediately called my father. He told me to tell him a new apartment complex he would pay the first rent and I would love there and he would be there first thing in the morning. He flies oit 9 hours to move me: the funniest thing I think I’ve ever heard ; he said he wanted my lingerie: my dad was like “oh you think it would look good on you?l. And dried eight up

I grew up hearing my mother expressing how a woman should not accept or tolerate domestic violence so when I got married & had two children all was well..One day I had heard my husband yelling at my Mom & asked him not to disrespect my Mom. He then took off his belt saying what he intended to do to me.. Trust me I contacted an Attorney the very next day & filed for divorce. I never looked back. That was 35 years ago!

That's how it's gotta go. Because once you start allowing it it gets worse and worse. People say "why don't they just leave." Sometimes people are financially dependent etc so they can't. But a lot of times it's bc they have been being a used so badly for so long they fear retaliation because it's happened before. It's such a sick cycle. Good for you to have the courage and resources to do that for you and your family. No one deserves that

I'm so sorry for what you have been through. I am a DV survivor. My ex threw me out of a moving truck head first. All the bones in my face were broken, my jaw was wired shut for a year; had 3 operations on it. Had a closed head injury, was on life support, was in a coma for a month. Sandra, I am not comparing what happened to me to the horror you endured. Just know your not alone. Unfortunately, it happens way to often. I was fortunate in the fact that the hospital I was taken to was amazing hospital, Vanderbilt was an A1 trauma center, that saved my life. And beyond that, it was just a plain miracle. My head was bigger than my shoulders, and I didn't look human. Had lost skin to the bone. And I have almost no scars. I have very few deficits. I do live with pain, and some memory issues due to the head injury. But I did recover, and even became a DV counselor, public speaking and did fund raising for years. I am retired now. I wish you all the best. I know how difficult it is to share something so painful. Thank you for your strength. May you be blessed with all good and health and happiness. Americans are brainwashed to fear anything resembling “socialism” ..,even though the U.S. already has many tax payer funded social programs…Universal healthcare would benefit ALL Americans but the rich elite are afraid of any kind of taxation, and they somehow convince those that NEED it the most (poor and middle class voters) that universal healthcare is “socialist” and evil. It blows my mind.

No, their “free” healthcare is absolutely awful. Some things need to change in the United States but universal healthcare isn’t the answer. Obama Care turned things upside down for us. It made healthcare ridiculously expensive.
@DianeLake-sw3ym

@@Onelightoftheworld Obama care ended up this way because the gop roadblocked so much and whittled away at things in the program rather then help for the people's sake. It seems if it is not for the rich or corporations the gop wants to sabotage it until it is no longer effective. The gop is so blinded by their needed to "own the libs" that they forget their job is to work with the other side and compromise and make legislation to make people's lives better and our country better. Universal health care is great and much better the our way. Our outcomes are far lower then the other industrial countries with universal health care. Our costs are outrageous and unsustainable, our health care is doing more harm then help because it is getting where average people cannot afford it and yet, we get the lousy outcomes. My family in France have wonderful health care and it is, of course, universal. The health care is one of the best in the world.

Sadly it's a common story. I know of other similar testimonials, particularly from Pakistan where it's common for a husband to mark their wives by burning them accross the face & upper body. This is a CONTROL measure. In order to prevent the wayward partner from seeking attention from other men. They want their partner to be submissive & obedient. There was even one case where a man strung up his wife by her feet. And proceeded to blind her, cut off her nose, lips & ears. It was the only case where a woman successfully sued her husband for battery. 😢

Well I think the drugs/alcohol made her not feel the pain so she was able to go home & sleep where other ppl would feel it immediately & would run to get medical help. It had a chance to get much worse during all that time. The rest of the damage seemed to happen from the lousy hospital that sent her home like that with a medicine she had an allergic reaction to. It sounded like parts of her face must have had long time periods with blood flow cut off to them so they literally died!! That had to have been why they had to cut sections off. I don’t think the drugs/alcohol had anything to do with the actual original injury but they kept her from running to a hospital. So sad 😞

I cried hearing this story because I too survived domestic violence. Mine started from age 17-28. I am blessed I did not have physical scars or get into drug abuse like my abuser. I do have pain from being his daily punching bag and surviving what I believe were concussions from blows to the back of my head but I am alive! The trauma that still exists is in my mind because it’s very hard to be unaffected by someone constantly telling you no one loves you and you are a waste of air. I would say parents make sure you spend lots of time with your kids & show them how valuable they are! I put my whole life on hold to stay at home with mine. My Mother was always gone working, my Dad left us when we were little. Parents if your child is in an abusive relationship KEEP SHOWING UP, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR CHILD SAYS! They need you! Don’t ever walk away saying “ they continue to put themselves in that situation “. It’s very hard to leave abusers , not only are the women terrified ( as they should be), many times they don’t have HELP, or the abusers come begging for them how they CANT LIVE WITHOUT THEIR VICTIMS. If your abuser is the ONLY ONE giving this message of they need you…. so easy to believe it’s love. Maybe they will change. A big misconception about abusive relationships is that you don’t have great times with your abuser. It’s those great even romantic times that push you to keep enduring the bad times. Sandra thank you for your courage and honesty telling your story! I’m so glad your alive & healthy for your children & you learned that you have to face that trauma head on. There is no option not to feel it. This is why I am going to school for psychology to help victims of violence, like my former self. It is an epidemic and no one does anything. Everyday on the news you hear murder suicides of families because of abusers. These cowards think of only themselves. Mine was delusional. There is serious mental illness behind it, I’m sure of that. God bless the survivors and protect our daughters Lord. Heal our minds & spirits from all the trauma. 🙏🙏🙏❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Its so horrific what happened to this woman. Her husband is evil of course, that doesn't even need to be said, but what just blows my mind is the atrocious behavior of the hospital, medical teams. The dismissal of her condition and casually condeming her to death is inhuman. My mother is a retired doctor and she has told me similar (thankfully rare) stories of such lack of empathy to patients, but they never cease to horrorify me.

The USA sounds like a nightmare, like it's failing their patients who they are meant to protect and care for. Provide them with universal health care and let people get treated and not have to consider payment/insurance like this. She was failed by her parents, failed by her 'husband' and failed by the medical providers. I'm so glad she could face her trauma, and face her own actions and own up to them and grow into the beautiful and wise person she is today.

You are so brave to face all your life's lessons ... Some women never get to that point because it's too painful and so they stay. I'm glad that you made it to that point. @hbombstatic
@hbombstatic Жыл бұрын
@@tj.4079 It"ss not being petty. In this day and age EVERYONE knows that all caps is screaming. And there is never an acceptable excuse for ignorance. People have an obligation to learn etiquette, including online etiquette. That's why it is taught to children. Screaming, which is what all caps is, is unacceptable and rude. Pointing that out is not petty. It is absolutely necessary that ignorant people be made aware of their ignorance and that people screaming online be informed of just how obnoxious their typing is. You're the problem with the world today, way too lenient and laxadaisical. Eventually you will learn that if you give people an inch, then will take a mile. Every single time. You need to be vigilant against ignorance and immediately nip it in the bud when you encounter it. If you don't, it grows like a weed... Stop making this world a worse place to live in than it already is. And please. PLEASE don't breed.
