I managed to get authorization from an electric utility to pole mount a large NEMA cabinet to house a Hetrodyne signal processor to cross connect two incompatible community loops. One was mid split, the other was sub split. I built the headend, and the interface. The end of the trunk had never been terminated, but my levels were only off by a quarter of a dB when it went live.

@The Miss imagine talking to a homeowner. Informing them you were there to hookup their cable and internet. They greet you and show you to their backyard and everything seems just fine. Their friendly and even offer you something to drink. You go find the tap on the pole in their backyard, grab your ladder off your truck and climb 3o feet in the air to hook your cable line up to the tap. Everything goes well and you're done in a 2 or 3 minutes. Well you start to climb down and notice the homeowner is standing there with a gun in his hand. He tells you that if you get off that ladder he's going to shoot you. So you're stuck 30 feet in the air on a windy day for 20 minutes waiting for the cops to come. Meanwhile hoping he doesn't decide to just shoot you regardless. Odd thing was, I didn't always take my phone with me when I climbed my ladder. It was pure coincidence I didn't leave it in the truck as I climbed that day.

We didn't use RG11 where I worked. If the drop was that ling, we used .500" hardline. I haven't seen RG11 used for Cable TV since 1973, when stingers were still used for drops. That was all being wrecked out, at Ft. Rucker where it was used to feed the old WW wood buildings that were being torn down to build new brick or concrete structures. I worked the Weathervision section which used a pair of 12 channel systems to connect it to Carin Airfield to feed two channels of weather data to the main base, which were added to the ten channels of ETV for the classrooms.

@@ArtyParty0848 I didn't say it was no longer used, just that I hadn't seen it used for almost 50 years. After the Army, I built head ends and repaired equipment. I was only in the field for emergencies, or for special projects. My last contact with the industry was to borrow a bucket truck from the system in Leesburg, Florida after the Ch 55 TV studio building was struck by lightning. I had to replace the LNAs on a five meter dish that was inside a fence. There was no thought about serving the dish, o there was not room for a ladder. The system manage not only loaned us the truck, they sent a few spare LNAs in case I needed them and told the driver to stay there until I had everything working. This, in spite of their system having been hit in many locations. They also provided a private .750" line from the local elections office to our studio to let us cover elections, live. They provided a modulator and a demod, when we needed them.

@@ArtyParty0848 No problem. I used to receive pallets of RG59 and RG6, 50,000 feet per pallet. I also tested samples of splitters and taps in the shop before purchasing them in bulk. Some things were rejected without testing them. Like samples of F connectors that were machined from brass, but were not tin plated. Salt air would have quickly eaten them away. We were a top 100 MSO, so we purchased everything the same for all systems. We were also in the uplink business We uplinked WGN and WOR as the first super stations. Thee original Electronic program Guide was distributed as a subcarrier on WGN. It was done over two leased phone lines until I convinced them that they could fed a single satellite transponder from two ground stations. That saved us $14,000 a month. I repaired equipment that the OEMs wouldn't touch, like Collins-Rockwell C-band receivers. I had repair some Phasecom HSP hardware that was real crap.A lightning strike miles from the head end would destroy the RF preamp transistor.

This is a GREAT Story! Thank You!! The best part of the Story (for Myself) is how the Community stuck together! Thick and Thin! I wish people nowadays understood what Community is! I also really liked the Cat. I've never been a Cat person, always have been with Dogs. Where I'm currently living, we have A LOT of Feral's Living in and out of one of my Landlady's Sheds. The few who aren't afraid of my wheelchair or my Crutch when I'm able to stand for a moment show me these kinds of behaviors. The Look, the Cry, the bump into the leg. I'm finding Cats talk to us just as easily as Dogs do! They're just not good Schnuggle Puppies! Especially on Cold nights listening to Creepy Stories!

Thanks for another great narration for another great story! This one's my favorite so far! I've listened to it twice now and I wish there were more stories like this. Incorporating the supernatural with modern tech has always been my fav genre mix! It was so good that an hour had already passed without me noticing it! Also, really appreciate the different voices you give the characters! I especially enjoyed the butcher's and scratches's voices! Always looking forward to your uploads :D (edit for grammar)

A sort of Nightbreed for the 2000's, fused with a bit of Burton for good measure. Good fun story and good narration as always!

Love this one! Your character voices have always been amazing but they get better and more polished with every story. It sounds more and more like several people are talking :) Do you practice much before you record, may I ask?
