A young, Italian-American teen, who’s family is too secretive, who never talks about the “family business” and has a grandpa that runs a grocery store in what isn’t a prime location, and most folks, not knowing how, wonder how he stays in business? The grocery store is one of my favorite places in the Lighthouse Universe. Every story is a glimpse into “normal” everyday life for monsters, but yet…not. Our reluctant hero is so relatable and Tony is so real in my mind’s eye that I can almost smell the hair tonic and Italian cologne when he shuffles out from the back room. The elderly banshee is my favorite, and I was actually wishing for a late life romance between her and Tony. Every story adds dimension to this wonderful extra-normal universe that we are privileged enough to visit every few days. Excellent work Stephen and crew! I have introduced your stories to my caregivers and now they have added your stories to our daily routine, re-listening to our favorites and devouring your new stories as soon as we get notified! Stephen, I say this with certainty. A good story is a good story. Doesn't bother me one bit if the main squeeze of the story is given rules to survive and save the day. I like the aspects of each character and how they handle whats given to them differently. No person would react the same as another, so it actually gives them more depth. It helps to cement their personality traits by their behaviors. Same thing with no rules they just react to the circumstances without guidance from the rules and what they do in either situation rules or no rules is how I get invested in a character. Your stories are amazing with or without rules. You are a very talented writer and speaker. The quality of the stories and the way in which you narrate coupled with the flawless character building throughout is why i come back for more and why i would and will never tell you what you should or should not read to me. Im thankful for all stories from Lighthouse Horror.

I am just halfway and I am debating whether this just became my favorite story or the toll booth one. And halfway thru the story, I am thinking "Nah, the big shot they're all afraid off has nothing on grandpa". LOL. I especially liked the argument about the shampoo between Dante and Marco! I kinda feel for Marco though. I was upset when my favorite instant coffee and my favorite chicken burger were discontinued. Haha. Just finished the story and listened to it again immediately. I feel that the story is not over yet. The Minotaur can't be that easy. And Dante is the unassuming hero in this universe. Looking forward to the next installment.
