@@AA-lz4wq it’s interesting how some people fall back on that as an option and you are right it is an option… But if it’s not what someone wants, then it shouldn’t happen. But I would agree it might be a lot easier trying to financially succeed in this world with a partner. That’s kind of how our societies try to set us up for success. They certainly have not been designed for people to try to go at this life as a single individual. And perhaps maybe at H 18 she settled down and married someone and had that life partner, but was completely unhappy with that situation as well. she is where she is now and hopefully she will be out ahead of this sooner than later and in a better place to think more clearly and make decisions about our future. It’s hard to really set the stage for the future when you’re so bogged down in financial debt and wondering where your next meal is going to come from or how you’re going to pay your bills. I even know lawyers who are struggling now - one who is even driving a cab at night to make ends meet! Things are tough out there now, but if you can lay bricks, tile a roof, fit and fix electrical wiring and sockets and lights, unblock a toilet, tile a floor, fit and fix windows (etc etc etc), then you'll always have an income.

@ My first role out of uni was a C++ developer for a startup (so stock options), and it paid off after 2 years (right place, right time). Could have retired after that, but agreed to work for another startup, and that paid off too (after 5 years). Built a hotel on the beach after that. Also completely debt free, called it a day and now rent out the entire hotel to a management company (so it's basically a passive income stream). I've always agreed that you shouldn't show any loyalty to the company you work for - do everything in your own best (self) interests. If a company doesn't need you, they'll drop you within the blink of an eye (i.e. they won't show you any loyalty). You did the right thing 😉

Corporate success seems to require transmogrifying one's character and moral conduct to a Machiavellian and predatory type of person in order to survive and climb in the ranks. Retaining one's sense of compassion, honesty and reasonable humility just makes one expendable when they have been fully exploited. Human beings really need to evolve spiritually if they are to make it out of this century as a civilization. The worst of us usually end up in charge of us and the legal system is configured to maintain that status quo. Having said that, I too learned translation and adapted to many other job roles and while I have my social security and my experience, there is nothing else I was able to protect and save. The was always a disruptor, trouble maker and/or parasite to negate all tangible gains from work and drive me away. I am now pretty much at peace with it as this did not make me into a loathsome person in the end. It is not fair to yourself however to say you have nothing because you have yourself and the person you became. You had standards and self respect which should let you live with yourself in peace. There are likely good acts of merit work you performed along the way and you have learned much. Thus at the spiritual level, you have affected the life trajectories of many people and promoted good will. At the time of dying (a graduation as I see it) none of any ill gotten gains from the corporate world will matter. Let yourself choose and have happiness as is your God given birthright. Happiness is a mental state of being invoked by an aware person and not something that is conferred or taken away by another with any spiritual authority.

Oh, and 400$ in cash. In 2024 I’ve only managed to buy 100$. This is too small. If you want money you have to live with rich parents (or at least in middle class family) or in a better country (for that you need to work a lot since the tickets are about 500$ and you need ~10k$ for living costs which are about 3 year income)

I stumbled upon this video while going through a bunch of art related videos as I was working on a painting and your story really captivated me. It's so crushing to hear that low wages high cost of living and working your ass of for a company that doesn't care about you is such a staple these days. I had a respectable job that paid well enough to sustain a good life but not enough so that I could get a mortgage as someone who likes to go solo. It destroyed my mental health. I decided that if my hard work doesn't even get me anywhere in life then why bother so I quit my job and became a freelance artist. Terrible decision from a financial standpoint but so far I have had no issues living a small, quiet life, and my mental health has already improved so much during the past couple of months. What I'm trying to say that I definitely get you for not wanting to go back to a soul sucking job that you get barely anything from in return. It's not worth it. But something is definitely wrong in today's working culture, that we are just expected to suck it up and be grateful for crumbs while someone else is profiting off of our hard work. It's incredibly demoralizing. I envy those who can just shut it out, compartmentalize their jobs and just try to fit their life on the side. I didn't manage to do that. I hope things will start looking up for you. I don't know you nor have I seen any of your videos before but you sound like someone who is very skilled and gets things done so I think you'll get out of this, too. Best of luck!

I feel this. I've felt that way, and mentally even physically beat myself up because of it. Guilt, shame, regret, and even resentment for all the years I wasted. And for me, it was in doing the wrong thing. Drugs, partying, and being completely irresponsible. I'm 44 years old now. And only recently, have I started to forgive myself, and see the opportunities that I have today, and NOW. It isn't too late to do something new. To change directions, develop a new skill or talent, work towards a goal/dream, and basically start shaping my life the way I'd like to. And even time "wasted" can be seen as lessons learned about self. Building character, empathy, patience, resilience, knowledge and ultimately experiences in life. What we do with that? Remains up to us. But, I can definitely appreciate the message here. Respect.

Hello Sue, I understand your situation well, as I'm also from a developing country facing similar economic challenges. Achieving financial freedom is my current goal. While I haven't reached it yet, I've adopted a frugal lifestyle and allocate 75% of my income to bonds. In my country, bonds offer an average return of 7%, and inflation is around 3%. Based on my calculations, I plan to work for four years in a low-level position in a developed country, then return to my village to live as I wish, including starting a KZbin channel. I'm halfway through this plan and hope to achieve it soon.

Thanks for telling your story, good reality check, that's nice for a change. KZbin could do with more people spitting honest truth... And to a Dutch guy with English as a secondary language like myself, your English sounds just fine. Edit: 40:00 Holy crap, that sounds way too familiar to me. My view is exactly the same; as long as I don't have financial stability, there's also no stable "foundation" to build a relationship on. I really can't comprehend how some really poor people can form relationships... Had a business that went bad during Covid, but luckily I didn't push until bankruptcy, so I just closed the business in time, before accumulating any debt.

It is not the case nowadays, it is sometimes not even enough for the bare minimum. Nowadays we need to leave our home countries and go to a richer one. Eventually stay there or move back and being able to finally buy a property. Other ways are remote work or online work, but also that is very unpredictable and most likely not easily sustainable. But I wish you luck in your efforts! I just wanted to give one critique, and please don`t take it personally, but I don`t know anyone in Europe that bought a brand new car this young. The situation in Greece is exactly the same like in Turkey, the average rent at 2010 for an apartment in Athens center was 280€ and the minimum wage net is 720 and today's rent is 580 and even more but salary hasn't grown up at all since then. This life story is very familiar. People live life in their 20's like YOLO and continue in their 30's when they should be living like thier poor with zero holidays and sharing a rental with multiple people saving every single dollar they make. In your 40's you will have no need to rent and have zero mortgage and looking at retiring early. Thanks for sharing your story and good luck with everything from Sydney Australia.

@1:14 2019 till the year you posted this video isn't 16 years. It's only 9 years. Unless you meant to say 2009 in stead of 2019.

I’ve also worked for 16 years in marketing and advertising. I don’t have much, but I have a family, a roof over my head and I get to indulge in small pleasures like buying myself a drink every now and then. It’s certainly not much, but in some ways, it’s a lot, and I’m grateful.

You’re alive. You fed yourself. You still have your smile. Many can’t say the same. Gratitude is always better than whining, IME.

I just stumbled on your video and was very touched by your story. Hang in there. Sometimes when it seems like nothing is going on in life, that's when we have the time to work on our next breakthroughs ❤️ wishing you the best and I'm glad your immediate expenses seem to be covered. Ps. Maybe it feels difficult to get creative in times you're forced to pivot, but just my small suggestion - You seem to be living in a culturally interesting part of the world! Would love to see more of your city, a day in a life, and what local diversions you can share with people like me who live in a suffocatingly urban place (Manila) where not much is happening. No pressure, just an idea. Looking forward to more of your videos ❤️

thanks a lot for the comment, Yandra! sadly my health isn't that great lately and I find it a bit hard to go out and vlog in the sights worth showing to all of you. but I've been getting these types of suggestions for a few comments now, I'll check if I can do something. thank you!

I would never have guessed you are Turkish. You look European. Also, your English is very, very good.

Turkey was part of byzantine and full of white people until the Ottoman Empire took over and then they became mixed.
