Back in 2020, i bought the i7 10700k. It was one of the best CPU's at the time. I don't understand, how people charge 300 euro for this 4 years old cpu. btw. the i3.13100f has extra 4 performance cores with 8 threads. That means, without them, i7 10700k could crush the i3 in to 1000 pieces. Amazing how fast technology evolves. 👌

13100 over a beastly memory overclocking 5ghz 8 core cpu with extremely low latencies? Sounds like the wrongest decision. If you're trying to make 13100 look better in that video, then you're too far from reality. This cpu simply crashes the i3 if given proper ram/ring tuning on a Z490 board even in single threaded gaming scenarios. Those cinebench numbers are totally useless as they're completely insensitive to what games react to the best (memory and latency), as a reference even 3700x gives better ipc scores in such apps but I don't need to tell how much slower it actually is than a 10700K in windows/games.

And never trust TheSpyHood benchmarks, it's nothing without a video attached from a low reputation source. 13100 is not even a truly 13th gen cpu just as 13400 because it has the same cache structure as 12th gen ones. 13100 is literally the same as 12100 and there's plenty of data out there where even a base untuned 10700K clearly wins. Damn, comparing 13100 to 10900K is even more ridiculous. I'm not even considering the fact that they're gonna be way snappier on Z490 with bdie than something like 12700f/13400f. I've literally seen a 12700K with base 3200mhz lose by about 15-20% in Witcher 3 to fully tuned 4266MHz 9900K/10700K. Just never underestimate the power of a K cpu.

Locally, I can find an i3+H610M combo (decent model) for $160 tax included. I also had the incredible opportunity to bclkOC a 12300 to ~5.3 GHz and it was pretty wild...

And yeah, I didn't talk about this enough in the video, but the main attraction of this i3 to me is that not only it keeps up with i7s that are a couple generations old (or even beats them) but that the cpu + motherboard combo costs less than the i7 alone... Most buyers don't even consider i3s just because of the name, and don't realize that buying something like a 10400f instead for the same price is a mistake both in the short term (performance) and in the long term (upgradability). How would you convince buyers to make the right choice?

​@@CheapBastard So true. people buying i7s for gaming is like buying a truck for city commute... Not the best option but hey it makes you feel more masculine I guess. For budget gaming systems, I usually don't specify the CPU to the clients and say it's latest gen intel equivalent to an i7 11700K and put a 12100F in lmao. I also put on the benchmarks on a little slideshow comparing the build to said i7. Saved them like 200$ on a CPU they do not need. For mixed workloads I always recommend ryzen, as they're quite cheap. I get R5 5500s for like $90. For gaming it's slightly behind and use a bit more power but they beat the i3s on productivity by a decent %.

I built two systems for friends this month based on the i3 12100F and RTX 3060 12GB. The balance between the 3060 GPU and 12100F CPU is a sweet spot. I am sure the 13100F would be even better. But... I am a cheap bastard too!! 😀

You could part a 12100f even with a 3080. In 4k where these GPUs were aimed at works well with even my old i5 10400.

You comparing totally diff CPUs , it should be I3 10100F vs CORE I7-10700KF coz they are in same range with same socs and TDPS and no IGPUs . i3 13100F higher class CPU with LGA1700 with no IGPU and more TDP and the i7-10700K is LGA1200 with IGPU and less TDP . It looks like your 10700k might be throttling no? Early in video you have temps hitting 90+ Celsius but frequency stays at 4.7ghz, then in Forza it's locked to 3.8ghz. Did you change OC settings or power plan?

I didn't change neither the OC settings or the power plan, but it might be due to the H510 motherboard not being able to sustain the clocks after a sustained load

The point was to compare the CPUs at the same price. My bad for not explaining this at all in the conclusion. (Used 10700K + H510 ≈ 200€, and new 13100f + H610 ≈ 200€) spending extra on a Z490/Z590 motherboard means that you can now purchase a new 12400f + h610 motherboard, which changes the comparison completely. Thank you for the questions, definitely valid points. I'll spend more time explaining/discussing potential alternatives and choices in the future videos
