Good call going with the increased pan and not just tossing on an oil cooler immediately. That extra oil capacity increases the thermal mass of the oil so you get an immediate benefit there. I'll be interested to see what your oil temperatures look like after the pan and increased oil capacity.

oil temp sensor should be on top block galley plug. You want to be reading your oil temp at it hottest point, not its coldest
@annettehoulahan1733 жыл бұрын
Yeah, some guys do but it gets affected by the heat soak in the block itself. Guys like killer B recommend measuring it in the sump and then take into consideration that it'll be hotter in the motor. It cycles at a really high flow rate in EJs too.

Was thinking about the same thing. What made you choose the competition over the street if only pushing about 350 like you said? is the extra 100 bucks for competition really worth it
@LifeFlatout3 жыл бұрын
I got it for a very discounted price (way less than street) I do a fair amount of big track so its not the power but the g forces it experiences. I can also swap the windage tray later on if it causes issues.
@ezimm813 жыл бұрын
@@LifeFlatout ahh gotcha. I was thinking about the street kit for the pan pick up and tray for my sti still stock but I’m doing reliability mods before i start modding
@LifeFlatout3 жыл бұрын
@@ezimm81 I’d say this would be a reliability mod. I’ve killed two engines from extended time on track. I’ll be logging oil temp and pressure next to determine if I need to do an external thermostat oil cooler.
