I always really like how forthright Iain is in publicly praising the work of everyone else in the workshop. Also, I really hope that someone is apprenticing under Craig. It would be a shame to lose all the knowledge and skills he has acquired over the course of his career. I get the impression that Craig is a person who likes to work alone, but it would be really nice to see another "Alex" type of person start working with him to learn. When Iain finally decides to retire I hope the workshop can be transformed into an employee ownership style business so the knowledge, skills, and abilities contained within can continue on to keep antique cars running and driving at a high level.

Craig leaves the flutes empty, and *then* pulls in the foam...I found that quite a startling revelation. Surprised with the use of horsehair as well. Every aspect of restoration work within the shop is fascinating. How satisfying to be able to invest the time and lavish the attention to detail that each vehicle deserves. A full shop is testament to that care & attention.

What a treat this video is! Thank you Iain, for sharing what is going on in your workshop. It is such a treat to learn about your team members work. This time it is the magic of Craig and Alex. The leather seats are a work of art. Each seam is beautifully done and the padding is just perfect! The bodywork done by Alex is amazing. Creating new panels to replace old once that are rusted out. What an art. I cannot wait to see what the car will look like once Ryan puts the finish on it. I wish I could give this video more than one thumbs up! Thank you and your team!

I love the ketchups, great to see the nitty gritty stuff that goes on, from Alex’s fine work on the panels to Craig’s superb trimming work. I recently had some trimming done on my 911 to replicate the factory extended leather and it’s difficult to find really good people to do it these days, but fortunately it was simple and I found someone fairly local, otherwise I’d have been on the phone! Absolutely love the colour choice on the Islero, it’s so right and will look stunning.

Thank you Sir again, for the lovely videos. It is lovely to see the ideals of craftsmanship come to life through your knowledge and pride in mechanical and restoration work. How I wish that the big manufacturers would imbue their work with equal passion, rather than just allow the accountants to reduce everything to mundanity by way of numbers. Art for Art’s sake, is a sentiment that I certainly resonate with. And your work is pure Art. Wishing you a Wonderful 2025 ahead and looking forward to lots more lovely automotive content for us faraway folks to watch and enjoy!

My early "production" 1977 XJS also has horsehair fill on the rear seat. I also left it in because I could see no compelling reason to upgrade it. The early XJSs were very much hand assembled/ finished, and it shows in the assembly materials and methods- like pressed aluminium under dash panels, the horsehair, moulded cardboard quarter casings and rear seat shells, manually drilling holes in the body and fitting self tapping screws to hold trim in place etc. Even a lot of the exterior trim is still chrome plated brass. I can easily see how Jaguar was not making money on vehicle production in the 70's.

All of your guys in these videos always seem to be very happy working for you! There must be a reason. If I manage to make a lot of money I'll have a Lamborghini Islero just like that one. I spent a lot of my childhood in the 80s in a 1970 Triumph 2000, so it's great seeing the dismantling and re-building of top tier Italian cars of the late 60s / early 70s, and seeing a similar aesthetic to what Michelotti was going for, but done with the best of everything on a Lamborghini budget rather than a British Leyland budget.

That's a lovely colour on the Islero. I might have gone for a slightly darker shade of tan on the interior though, more a mid-tan than a light tan, but that's just me. As long as the owner likes it, Craig's exemplary work will show it off to it's best. Alex is turning into quite the star metal fettler too. Kinda wish I'd had his skills at his age... All the best for the coming year, Mr Tyrrell, and best wishes to the Team as well. Regards... G

I love that Lamborghini colour combination. I had a 1970 E type coupe that was Sable on Cinnamon, so a pretty similar combo. not particularly popular colour combo in a Jag, but I always thought that the popular Red, British racing green, white or silver on black combos were so esoteric, though popular.

I love your Ketchups. Please forgive me correcting you, but the padding on the Islero rear seat is not horse-hair. I do not know the Englisch term for it, in German it is "Gummikokos" best translated as rubberized coconut. Coconut fibers are latex coated and pressed into sheets. Even in Germany it´s quite often misnamed as horse-hair or "Rosshaar".
