Two nations wanting the same land. It's not special. The only reason that this seems that way is because of political interests around the conflict, and because it's not resolved in an era where most of these conflicts are history. Take Alsace-Lorraine for example. A region in Germany/France. The locals just want to live in peace, wherever they are granted rights and living standards, they are half German and half French anyways! (as far as I know, bare with me for the example). But France and Germany are not at war or conflict so nobody talks about the two nations both wanting the Alsace-Lorraine. France has it now. A German wants to go there - He can because of the EU passport/citizenship, the French and Germans stopped fighting and now this land is accessible for both nations, why not? Could Arabs and Hebrews just share the holy land? Absolutely yes. Will they? as long as hatred is taught, no. I listened to a person who made a documentary about her friends who lived surrounding Gaza. Those people said there could be life together with Palestinians, they said if they were doctors they would voluntarily cure Gaza citizens for nothing in exchange but the resolving of the conflict. They were murdered on October 7th, non-combatants. It's about education. Two children want the same sandbox, they could share or they could fight and no one can have fun in it - but we grow up and learn to share. It's really that simple.

@@dan-us6nkwow, thank you for these beautiful words. They really moved me. Even though I don't have any connection to these lands, the conflict has felt very close to my heart. To see people fighting over something they could so easy share in peace if only they just did so. To me it feels like this conflict will never end until one side eradicates the other, which is such a gruesome and grim vision of the future. I want all these people to live. I want them to just. stop. fighting. Revenge is such an ugly thing, it just feeds on itself in a never ending cycle.
@Goobiesnoop
@Goobiesnoop 11 ай бұрын
It isn't as simple as two nations wanting the same land, it is the complexity of a nation being given to another people right after the second world war; a people who had not been involved in the persecuation of the Jews being forced to give up their land to make a safe haven for the Jews of Europe. One major problem, that should be obvious by now: You don't make friends by stealing another persons stuff. And now with 75+ years of nonstop occupation and apartheid being brought upon the palestianians, resistance towards oppression was inveitable. This is not to justify any acts committed, it is to state the obvious that now with the Gaza genocide happening, another act of genocide is being brought upon the people of the West Bank, where bedouins get killed and villages set ablaze. So is it a case of two nations wanting the same land or a case of European neo-colonialism once again screwing up another region of the world like it did to South Africa? @@dan-us6nk

@@dan-us6nki don't disagree, but the fact that the two sides have been perpetually fighting non-stop for such an ungodly amount of time is notable, if not particularly special.

Your all a little bit wrong this conflict isn’t “difficult” or complicated. And it’s not as simple as a fight for holy land. This is quite literally a fight for cultural and ethnic survival between Muslim and Christian Palestinians against a occupational apartheid fascist regime. 5:13 The name Palestine comes from the Philistines - a tribe from the "sea people", probably from Mycenaean Greece who invaded and setteled at the southern coast of Cannan, during the bronze age collapse. The name most likely comes from the etymological root "Invader" in Cannanite languages. The most famous if them all is Goliath, from the story of "David and Goliath". The Greeks begun to refer to the entire area of Cannan after them - Philistia. And the name survived also after the extinction of the Philistines at the 8 century BC when the Assyrian empire conqured it. After one of the Jewish revolts against Rome - as Mr. Beat mentioned, the area was renamed by it's Latinized Greek name - Palestina. (Like almost every other thing the Romans did with Greek culture...)

Excellent analysis overall. One point to add was the effects of 1973 Yom Kippur War with Syria and Egypt. Israel was caught flat-footed, lost territory early in the war, and suffered heavy casualties. And although Israel managed to win the war, Egypt gained the necessary leverage to bargain for the return of the Sinai peninsula during the 1978 Camp David Accords.
@ingGS
@ingGS 8 ай бұрын
Israel was caught “flat-footed” because the U.S. and Britain told them NOT to attack, they knew the war was coming, the King of Jordan warned Golda Meier, but she could not do anything otherwise they would lose western support. Also, Egypt did not get any bargaining rights, the U.S. pressured Israel to give back Sinai in exchange for peace, Israel had clear plans to build urban settlements in the Sinai with as much as 200.000 people, but the idea of peace with arabs and that extending to other countries was a better deal to Israel.
@JoshuaFinancialPL
@JoshuaFinancialPL 8 ай бұрын
actually no. Israel wanted to give back Sinai and Gaza for peace with Egypt and Egypt refused to take back Gaza and the people there. Gaza still has a southern border with Egypt, which is closed by massive Egyptian fortifications and military. beyond that border is uninhabited desert - but Egypt wont open their border to gazans even to allow a refugee exodus from the war with Hamas. Wonder why.

Excellent video, Mr. Beat; Just a small correction: Israel doesn't "militarily" occupy the Golan, it just occupies it. A military occupation would be like in the West Bank, where military law is set in place, rather than civil law. This difference is because, unlike the West Bank, Israel annexed the Golan. This annexation wasn't recognized at all by other countries, however because of the annexation, citizenship was given and civil law takes place there like with the rest of israel

@@iammrbeat Hey Mr. Beat nice video, however while you mention that ever since the Romans called Israel, "Palestine", it does not mean that the group who refer to themselves today as palestinians, were in control of the land simply due to the name given by the Romans. In fact when the Romans called the land of Israel, "Palestine"(which was based on the Aegean Greeks"Phillstines"), Islam was not even around until 7 centuries later! The fact that you say all those palestinians before 1948 lived in Israel and grouped together to fight Israel, gives the impression that it was an Arab Palestinian land before, which it never was. There was never a group of Arabs known as the palestinians (of today), they were simply Arabs from the surrounding countries who lived there aside for the Muslim occupiers of the land such as the Turks etc. Also Jews lived in Israel throughout the years as well, of course it was a minority because they were getting killed all over the world including in Israel by the occupying nations. The land was called Palestine so anyone who lived there before 1948 was known as palestinian but it was not an identity of a nation, it was simply a technicality which means Jews were also called palestinians due to living in the land under that name. Palestinians as we know today formed in 1967 by Arafat who had the idea to adopt the false name of the land given by the Romans which stuck until 1948 to give the impression that it was always their land. You never told us when the "palestinians'' declared independence of the land and who their rulers were, because it never happened. If anything it was a Jewish land for thousands of years, and then reclaimed in 1948 through war. So by all accounts its a Jewish land. Just because their were many occupiers of the land doesnt mean it changed anything, those occupiers never declared it as their land they already had a land of their own. Name one Arab/Palestinian king who had sovereignty over a land called Palestine. Can You? P.S. Also when Babylon and Rome invaded, Jews didnt willingly leave at all, they fought till the death and those who left were forced to leave, captured and taken into Exile. If you look at Jewish prayers from those times (which Jews still have in the existing prayer books), all the prayers were about returning to Jerusalem and the Rebuilding of the Temple to serve G-D. They wanted to return to Israel but could not.

A few things: 1. 3:50 Jews were enslaved by Babylon they didn't just flee. I believe the number is at least ten thousand. Cyrus freed them and allowed them to return, not just encouraged. 2. 10:07 Fun fact: Zionists were not sure at first whether they would settle in Palestine. Among other countries they considered Uganda and Japan. Imagine an alternate universe where it is called the "Japanese -Israel" conflict. 3. 16:40 Syria actually signed a ceasefire agreement in 1974 and it's been the longest lasting ceasefire agreement between Israel and any other Arab state. Syrians often accuse Hafez of selling us out in the six-day war as everyone from IDF, IAF, USA, and Syrian army witnesses claim the surrender of Golan was premature. There is also an article about Hafez receiving $100 million for the land.

About 2, you're wrong in the terminology. There were such ideas, yes, but they weren't coming from zionist (the word Zion is another name for the land of Israel), but by people who called by themselves Territorialist. Anyway, they were a minor movement and faded after a few decades. Their biggest achivement was the autonomous jewish region in the USSR, which was also kinda made possible by the Bund and as a reaction to USSR jews being mostly zionist. About 3, Syria and Israel did fight during the lebanese conflict in a few battles, also Israel pretty regularly bombs Iran and Hizballah places of intrest in Syria, not to mention the destruction of the syrian nuclear reactor. There hasn't been a total war, yeah, but it's a very tense ceasefire.

Not that they were very friendly when establishing their empire... But thought that their reach went that far right around the time when they were able to establish one of the largest contiguous empires; shortly before the Ming Dynasty came to power and they were under attack from multiple directions. Speaking of which, not sure if you venture into the religious topics... But, was always curious as to the extent of Confucianism, if any, with the dominate monotheistic religions as I noticed some common stories when I was studying in China - but never pursued the matter.

@Svenskanorden1that’s incorrect. They sided with the British because the young Turk revolution which over through the sultan and made more of a mess out of the empire, which had been in decline. The British manipulated, lied, and pressured for the people to rise up, then stabbed them in the back. Due to Britain’s heavy racist motivation to get rid of the Jewish refugees after WWII, they saw the perfect opportunity to “cleanse themselves” of the “Jewish problem” and make life better for the Jews. European Zionism was founded in antisemitism and racism, and it’s still a core of the belief today. Which explains why Israel is so content with apartheid systems and oppression.

Overall a really solid and informative analysis and history of both places. The only small critique I would make is that you said that overall Israel tends to be “much more free and fair,” and while by no means is Palestine’s democracy perfect or extremely democratic, it is important to give perspective that there is much systemic and fundamental legislature in place in Israel which openly and explicitly advocates for segregation and discrimination of people based on nationality. For example, your nationality is determined by your ethnicity and it cannot be changed or challenged. Many of the rights you are accorded in Israel stem from your nationality, not your citizenship. Therefore, though the democracy of Israel may be more ostensibly free and fair, it is important to remember that there is fundamental systemic discrimination in even the un-occupied (military) sectors and regions of Israel. Just wanted to point this out to highlight a potentially significant piece of information about Israel compared to Palestine.

for anyone reading this comment, please know that absolutely none of that is true.. I actually had a different problem with the video, it happens to be with the same sentence as you pointed out.. Even though the democracy in Israel isn't flawless it is miles ahead of any of it's neighboring states and it is definitely lightyears away from the Palestinian democracy... The sentence you wrote "while by no means is Palestine’s democracy perfect or extremely democratic" is hilarious really, they don't even hold elections. They are simply not a democracy and never have been.

A fifth to a quarter of Israeli citizens are Arabs. They have full rights as citizens. The only differences: Jews have the right of return while Arabs do not, as letting every single person who claims to be a fifth-generation Palestinian "refugee" claim citizenship would cause obvious problems. If you don't know what I mean, Israel would not exist anymore. Also, Arab Israelis are exempt from the draft.

@@ouri1212 @TizBaz5 Israel has the modern equivalent of Jim Crowe laws… racism, segregation, and racial stratification are core tenants of the Zionist movement. Non Jewish Israeli citizens are established as second class citizens under law. The right of return is not the only thing Arabs are denied. Making the claim that “5th generation citizens” coming back to Palestine would be an issue is nonsensical, most of them are the children (2nd gen) and grandchildren (3rd gen) of the victims of nakba… there are Israelis living in the houses their living relatives built… Compare that to the right of return to Jews who can’t trace their lineage to region for 2000+ years. Millions have been granted citizenships with no verification of lineage but that’s not an issue because it reinforces the colonization, right?? If the living natives, and immediate descendants of them, return to the region, as you said, the colony state of Israel literally wouldn’t exist, it would be a united Palestine again where the Zionist don’t enjoy a privileged status anymore and instead are made equal. I really don’t see the comparison here.

17:34 The withholding of tax revenues was not simply as compensation, it was specifically because of the PA's Martyrs Fund. The Martyr's Fund is a program run by the PA in which money is given to Palestinians who are killed or imprisoned fighting Israel. Israel argues that, as the majority of those who receive funding through this program died or were imprisoned due to making terror attacks on civilians, this is a "pay-for-slay" policy (the actual wording used), and so has withheld an amount of money equivalent to what the PA spends on the Martyr's Fund.

5:22 you made a pretty serious error here in dating the origin of the word Palestine. It is much older than the Greeks and dates back roughly to the time of the Trojan War/Bronze Age Collapse. The word Palestine derived from Peleset, a tribe of “Sea Peoples” likely from Sicily. They are the biblical Philistines, and Peleset roughly means “invader” in Hebrew. “Palestine” or “Philistia” (root of Filastin) was a region in the south consisting of 5 major cities, the chief among them being Gaza and Ashkelon. The Philistines were conquered by the Neo-Assyrians in the 7th century BC and scattered into exile across their empire just like the 10 lost tribes. Your idea of “generally lived in peace” is also extremely dumbed down and an outright lie. There have been countless massacres and pogroms against Jews in Muslim-ruled Palestine, with frequency increasing rapidly in the lead up to the establishment of Israel.

As a jew who lives in Israel, this was a great and pretty objective video! One small correction though regarding the law of return - The orthodox consider jews to only be ones with a jewish mother (or converted). However, the Israeli law actually allows any person with at least one jewish gradparent to visit and get a citizenship. This is mostly as a result of the nazi policy during the holocaust, which considered anyone with at least one jewish grandparent a jew, and thus to be executed.

@@ezra7088 The first draft stated that the borders would be decided by the UN partition plan, but among others Ben Gurion opposed this by stating: "We accepted the UN Resolution, but the Arabs did not. They are preparing to make war on us. If we defeat them and capture western Galilee or territory on both sides of the road to Jerusalem, these areas will become part of the state. Why should we obligate ourselves to accept boundaries that in any case the Arabs don't accept?" Ultimately the provisional government specifically voted against designating any borders in the declaration of independence, thus there is no mention of borders.

If we are interested in getting things right, both sides prepared for war, not just one. And one side started their preparations decades earlier and put much more money and effort into it. Many Zionists opposed the UN partition plan (and had opposed earlier partition plans). Ben Gurion's way of "accepting" the UN partition plan was a convenient way of "accepting" it for international consumption and keeping his followers happy by planning to take whatever territory Israel could get. A strategy that continues in a slightly modified form today. Voting against setting borders shows an intention to expand.

The british also promised itself it would occupy palestine and jordan and promised france Lebanon and syria (which you hinted at). One thing left out was that Britain ALSO promised the entire land to the Meccan royal family in exchange for support to overthrow the ottomans. Important details not fleshed out in the video: 1 - When you call Palestinians Arabs, the average person might think they are from Arabia, which is not true. Palestinian Arabs(like Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi Arabs) are arabized peoples. They have adopted the Arab identity or may have some Arab lineages due to the legacy of Arab caliphate rule, but genetically they are indigenous to where they live. According to genetic research that compared modern DNA to ancient DNA the researchers found “In a principle component analysis (PCA), the ancient Levantines clustered predominantly with modern-day Palestinians and Bedouins and marginally overlapped with Arabian Jews…” (The Origins of Ashkenaz, Ashkenazic Jews, and Yiddish published in "Frontiers in Genetics"). Modern day Palestinians are largely the descendants of Jewish and Christian converts to Islam. This is crucial because many uninformed observers simply believe Palestinians are random Arabs who settled in Palestine after removing its original inhabitants(such ethnic cleansing has never been recorded). 2 - The Jewish population right before the Belfour declaration was 11% 3 - The Arab leaders rejected the UN plan because it was drafted without consulting the Arabs, while the Jews were consulted beforehand. Despite owning 94% of the land, Palestinians were given only 45% of the land by the UN proposal. Meaning that nearly half of Arab land owners would have their lands seized and handed over to Jews(two thirds of whom were newly arrived immigrants). This is theft, plain and simple. The proposal was drafted fully knowing the Arabs would reject it, and they weren't unreasonable in doing so. The UN, British, and Jews had no intention of drafting a more fair proposal and never did. 4 - The Jews owned 5.8% of the land(Survey of Palestine by British government 1943), Note in the imagine of ‘Land ownership by sub-districts’ Jews did NOT hold a majority of land in ANY sub-district. Though they were more concentrated in the North. The claim that Jews bought land from the Palestinians and wanted to build their own state on such land is completely false. 5 - Arrested Palestinians in the west bank and Gaza go through Military courts that have 99% conviction rates(instead of civilian courts that Israelis get to go to). Thousands of Palestinians are tortured in Israeli prisons without any real trial or proof.

Look I don't wanna get into the small details of the conflict, or this message will be an essay. But here are some important things to note- 1. This video is very well made, and is very unbiased to either side. Many videos have a bias to Palestine, and many have one towards Israel, but this one is (mostly) neutral. I will say, it is very hard to make a video covering a conflict without letting a bit of personal bias into it, and it is very hard to know the exact facts of the conflict, since there is so much fake news around (I will admit, I probably have some wrong facts, and since I do live in Israel I definatly have a bias) 2. Israeli politics are very... interesting. For example, this nation was mostly secular and socialist in it's concieving, but dew to rising nationalism, that really changed. The party which used to dominate, Mapai, which then united with other parties to form the Avoda, now has little to no power in Israeli government. the Avoda, Meretz, and the Arab parties, are the only left-secular parties, and they are only around 25% of the Israeli congress ("Knesset"). During the reign of our arguably best prime minister, Yizhak Rabin, we came pretty close to ending the conflict. However since his assassination by an ultranationalist religious guy by the name of Yigal Amir, things have changed drastically with many of his reforms being subverted by the new leading party named "the Likud". 3. I myself believe that the solution should be a full creation of an Arab/Palestinian sovereign state in the west bank and Gaza strip, and leaving them with a full liberty to elect leaders and conduct foreign relations. Many people like me in Israel are feeling quite frustrated with the state of Israeli politics, the rise of nationalistic right parties like the Likud, and wish to see an end to their reign and a start of two secular democratic states. 4. However- I do agree with the right politics of this nation on a few points- we are here, our nation is legitimate, and we are not the villain we are made of. Many of our past and present decisions were made out of almost pure self defence. And no, I don't think our state was legitimate to begin with, but for the past 7 decades we have made it so, and making the Israeli state disappear will only cause the death and suffering of our citizens under the newly formed Arab regime, which will only cause the same problem but towards the opposite side. To touch the other part, many of our blockades of the Gaza strip are strictly to starve out Hamas, and while it's not ideal, and millions are suffering, leaving the Gaza strip free will only cause Israelies to suffer. 5. The state of Palestinian healthcare and economy is the one thing I feel like your video was incorrect about. And sure, the facts you gave were correct, but you failed to mention other facts, which made your conclusion sound like "Israel is the reason why Palestinians are ailing and poor". No. Israel has, many times, given grants of millions to the Palestinians, especially the Gaza strip, but what we see is that they go almost entirely towards funding weapons, missiles and bombs. The Hamas and Fatah organizations are clearly putting civillians next to military objectives of Israel, and many times do not evacuate areas that we have warned of airstriking. Now if you take that with the state of Palestinians today, the conclusion that I get to is that the Hamas and Fatah organizations are very much the reason of their own people's death and suffering. 6. This one is the final one. I think one of the problems of this conflict going south is nationalistic ideals overcoming logical and ethical ones. We should, in my opinion, make the violance about liberating the Palestinians of their oppressive and cruel overlords. Especially the Gaza strip. I hope people in Palestine will one day live in prosperity in their own nation, and that our conflict will become similar to the Turkish-Greek one. We will fight, sure, preferablly with words over missiles, and argue, but reluctantly coexist, two democratic and technological nations, with citizens thriving, and maybe even visiting the other place, to see what was once their arch-nemesis. But for now, that is but a dream, a fantasy, until we rid the world of terrorist extremists. And btw, Israel does have it's own terrorist extremists. I myself am protesting against one, named Itamar Ben Gvir, who is running for Knesset under the party "Ozma Yehudit" or "Jewish might". He has many times claimed all Palestinians should be killed, he is homophobic, racist and sexist, he said the guy who killed 20 Palestinians in the mahpella cave should have a national holiday, and he openly supports Yigal Amir, the afformentiond assassin of Yizhak Rabin. This final rant is me saying- we have bad extremists two, not better than the ones in Palestine, but they aren't leading the country (for now- hopefully for good).

Looking at the false information throughout the video, I would say it's kinda Palestine biased. Like he says Israel declared independence within the un partition plan borders, fought a war against '"Palestine" and othe rnations, and expanded it's borders. This is blatantly false, Israel did not declare borders, and the post war borders became the border the UN recognized. Israel did not fight a 'palestine'. He pushed the invention of the "Palestinian people" several decades forward, even though the term "Palestinans" was post 1948 mostly used by and for the jews, not the Arabs. At the end he uses the false propaganda term 'occupied Palestinian territories'. Now we see why he lied about the initial war and borders. He's trying to make it sound like Israel took land from and occupies land from "Palestine". The only 'Palestinan lands' are Area A of the West Bank and Gaza. Area B and C are occupied lands (because Israel expanded beyong it's recognized borders after 1967 and took the west bank from Jordan), but they are not Palestinian lands. These falsehoods are further pushed by the image he uses throughout the video to depict his notion of Palestine, which includes area B and C.

Thank you for taking the time to share your take on this conflict. I found it valuable. Nationalism and religious fanaticism make it harder to live peacefully with our differences as humans all over the globe, and this conflict seems to be an example of those two problems from both sides. Also, I think the history of continuous oppression from previous empires makes things harder for Arabs in that region. And in recent history, the support for Israel from world powers like Britain and the US for Israel, and the lack of support from the international community for Arabs in that region is essential in making things worse for the Arabs and easier for Israel, in my opinion. But I also believe that Israelites have a right to live in their land. I hope Israelites and Arabs can find peace in their land.

Your intentions seem good but your point of view is the same as the "right wing" israelites you claim to disagree with. In your point 4, you are justifying things as they stand. Simple statistics, 100% of the bombs israel drops on palestine hit a target,only 4% of low yield rockets fired by hamas ever hit israel with barely any damage. that is not proportional damage. Blockading millions in the pretense of defending dozens is no humanitarian reason. In point 5, you are whitewashing the poverty israel inflicts, like mentioned in the video, when it just unilaterally decides to withold funding from Palestine. And it is also called "victim blaming". Oh if those foolish palestinians only did what israelites liked, instead of having their own organizations, they would be so much happier. In point 6, another discriminatory point of view, blaming the victim and insisting the blame is on them. Blame is on solely on "palestinian overlords" and none on israel. The reality is that since the Six day ware israel has ceased to have any existential threat. Peace is entirely in your hands, if you ever wished it. But Israel does not wish it, rather preferring to play the long game, hoping to have enough settlements to drive out all the palestinians from the lands you wish. Israel can achieve peace and a two state solution. It only needs to negotiate with only one precondition: the recognition by palestinians of the sovereignty and respect for a jewish state. Do that, and negotiate fairly on borders, compensation and free movement, and you can achieve peace in a fortnight. Even now, many palestinian families just have to speak to their grandparents and have living memory of the lands they lost in 1948 that were held for hundreds of year. For israelites, they can claim the land since their grandparents got there, but before that they have to go to 3200bc for some vague right to that place. The saddest part of this whole saga is the sheer hipocrisy of it. Jewish people have been persecuted for millenia. You know what it's like to be put behind walls, to be killed for religious reasons, despised and discriminated for no reason other than the god you believe in. Thankfully, Jewish people have always persevered and have given the world amazing contributions in science, politics, economics, arts, etc. But israel is doing to palestine things that were done to jewish people. You see the open air prison of gaza and immediately the warsaw ghetto (as many other ghettos established by germany) comes to mind. Walls, blockade of essential goods all for the reasoning that to keep the rest safe, we must keep that population within. Deny them rights to safeguard ours.... And you fall for it, thinking you are right, because you consider those within are dangerous to your existence... The brave people who fought in the warsaw ghetto uprising are not blamed for fighting their oppressors. Israelites and palestinians both are children of god and deserve their own state. There are devils and angels amongst both, no side can claim to be righteous. But the balance of power is clear, and in the favor of Israel. Which means it is Israel that has the burden to negotiate for real peace. The status quo only works for right wing israelites to continue building illegal settlements and to foster hatred in palestinians,which continues this violent cycle.

@Miguel Rodrigues Look, I can definatly argue some of your point, but- I agree with you 100%, that the conclusion should be a two state solution where both states are recognizing one another. I believe it is in the best interest of both states to simply coexist. One thing- do not try to make the comparison between ww2 ghettos and Gaza. Because in the ghettos, poo was flooding the streets, people didn't have running water and had to get buckets of it, and the ghetto was so crowded that 3 families lived in 1 apartment. I understand conditions in Gaza are difficult, but claiming the two are even similar is just spitting in the face of my grandparents and great grandparents who had to withstand living in such conditions.

Hey Mr. Beat, I have been a subscriber of yours for a few years now. I will begin by saying that this video is amazing, you covered the subject efficiently, and you have presented the land's history from an objective standpoint. I was extremely surprised that when you zoomed in on the Israeli map you were set on the city i grew up in (Yehud). I was somewhat moved by that, never thought you will ever have an encounter with my small hometown. Anyways, I think that this is a great opportunity to thank you for your great educating content. Additionally, I was a little disappointed that you did not mention how successful the Israeli economy has been. For a country who wasn't gifted with great natural resources, our success was created thanks to entrepreneurship nature of our people. Anyway, great video and really looking forward to that Tel-Aviv Jerusalem comparison.

He should have also mentioned the $3+ billion and technology sharing the US gives Israel each year to help shape that economy. Meanwhile Israel "collects" Palestinian taxes and doesn't give it back. Taxation without representation. But then loves to talk about its table scraps it gives Palestine as some sort of perverse charity.

@@glarusboi Israel actually provides value for money. Indeed, the value added by money paid to Israel is far greater in the benefit to the American economy than any monies paid to Palestine. You are comparing apples to bananas. Paying money to Palestine is 'bananas'! The money withheld by Israel is equivalent to the money paid to terrorists for killing Jews. Seems, you want them to pay stipends to murderers of Jews.

Just one small thing. (I could be wrong but this is from what I know) anti semitism is not not for hostility against only Jews, but rather hostility to Semitic religions (Muslims, Christians, and Jews). Also I’m sorry if my wording is kind of weird I’m not that great at writing English.

It is semetic languages not religions. The Semitic languages are Hebrew, arabic, and Aramic. So its mostly in refrence to jews, muslims, or Christians who speak those languages. The other 2 commentors are idiots with no idea that the term anti Semitic orignates from a jewish public figure that wrote a letter to racist Europeans (like Germans) in defense of Jews AND Arabs from Europeans who said they were sub human. Of course every isreali and their supporters are low iq bots

Semitic people include Arabs, however antisemitism is specifically racism against Jewish people. The west hasn’t really made a specific word for racism against Arabs because they hate Arabs for no apparent reason. Islamophobia is the closest thing however not all Arabs are Islamic so that’s not very accurate.

In many situations it's become utterly impossible to even bring up the subject of Israel / Palestine - in the U.K. sentiment runs all the way from folk who think Hitler was right and who won't hear a word said against Palestinians to others who feel just as strongly against them. We've just had a big witch hunt for antisemitism in our Labour Party but I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to find Conservatives who have similar thoughts. I'm a practical sort and wish both sides would stop being sides and just find a way of living together - the planet has bigger fish to fry than worrying over one tiny part of it causing so much anguish. The big elephant in the room for me is - if other Arab countries find it so easy to fund the conflict - why don't they open their doors to more Palestinians - many of them seem to like the idea of bottling up a load of troublemakers in Gaza because they certainly don't want them and the constant bad publicity for Israel making it a giant concentration camp suits too.
