Yeah, I've actually re-read THG series multiple times whereas I only read each of the Divergent books once - loads of the dystopian YA books after THG just felt like they were writing it 'cause dystopian YA was trending, whilst THG felt like it was written 'cause Collins had a message she wanted to get across. Like, I actually felt things whilst reading THG but I don't remember feeling much when reading Divergent :P

agenttheater5 ehhh, about 10 years before THG there was Battle Royale, much darker, more concrete, and the forced face off of 9 kids they kidnapped fighting to the death was more brutal. In basic American dystopia, THG is way high up there but it wasn’t really that great imo. The difference between NA dystopian to other countries dystopian literature is outstanding - you’ll find great dystopian stories from authors outside the US. It was actually argued that THG ripped off a lot of he Battle Royale series and wasn’t really noticed by the targeted teen audience because Battle Royal was Japanese and released in the late 90s and early 00s.

I was cast as Candor faction, due to my looks (according to casting department) (I called them the stick up their butts faction, due to them being the most uptight) hahaha. I agree, Divergent is not the best. I like Insurgent and Allegiant better, but I think that's bc I was there on the sets for multiple days. I can say Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Naomi Watts (in Allegiant) were all EXTREMELY nice, down to earth, hard workers and genuinely kind to everyone on set. That doesn't happen all the time, so it was very cool just how awesome they were.

I loved the first movie of this franchise. I am so sad we never got the last movie. The books had such an insane ending. Tris deserved to go down as the best YA heroine. Book Tris was so much more badass than any version of Katniss ever was. And this is coming from a fan of both books!
