Maybe that’s why I feel the first season is generally the most consistent in that way. The characters do condemn the villains, but they also aren’t usually willing to sacrifice innocent people for their own gain. They try to value human lives especially. So it made sense to condemn Damon then. It gets really weird later when they bring up how horrible Damon is after he had improved and other characters forgave his and many others’ destructive actions, conflating things like killing in self defense with massacring hundreds in terms of morality. A lot of people in the fandom didn’t and still don’t like characters who don’t prioritize their friends over everyone else, though, and the show certainly went with that lol.

It's insanely lazy writing since the season has been slogging through with no clear storyline and then they try to shove boring villains into the narrative. Kol is strangely the only one who acts like he wants to take action and I actually feel bad for him which means the show is really off the rails. No one communicates or relays relevant info "because reasons" but at least the finale is somewhat interesting.

Okay so, people, we need to STOP this thing with perpetuating and keeping Hybrid names alive. It wasn't cool 20 years ago and it's downright LAZY doing it now. Just say their names. Come on people, you DO realize these are two individuals right?? They should NOT be reduced to becoming one name. It's insulting and degrading. Their names are Stefan AND Caroline. Steroline sounds like a Pharmaceutical Company's Drug trials for performance enhancers. back in the 90's when they coined "Bennifer" and "Brangelina" it was already a disgusting display of laziness, Now it's compounded 100 fold.
