Yes and no. They could sell individual pieces, but the value of the furniture pieces are a pittance compared to the house/land. The amount of work to sell them all individually wouldn't be worth it when covering costs. The other factor is that many mansion estates like this would be sold with their furniture because of the sheer amount of it someone would have to buy to refurnish the place, along with the fact that many pieces would have been custom made for the house.

What confuses me is that somehow Lucy was said to have an excellent memory it could even considered photographic. So why wouldn't she read it herself. Then burn the book. That way no one would know the content of the book aside from her.
