Hi, Chris and Tony, nice to see you on the Morfa plod 😢I used to have a steel social club permit and the access was easy. No longer available now. Great surf beach and free from surfers etc. Worth a fee to fish this wonderful beach any day. Parking was just past the furnace slag tips and on the beach in 2 minutes. Breakwater holds some mighty conger there alongside the iron ore ships. Aberavon is the family beach and gets really busy 🎉😮. Thanks for the video, Chris. and no blanks. Cheers, bud.

Well done on braving the walk , at least you had a doctor on hand in case of emergency. A different 'big beach' and nice (again) to see somewhere different. Read a lot about Morfa and great to see it in all its glory.

Yes we have wanted to fish it for a while shame the fishing was a bit slow but it has lots of potential I think!!! The walk was a killer I think my GP mate was more likely to collapse than me to be honest 😂😂😂 Thanks as always for watching I really appreciate it cheers Ian

Nice one Ian and Chris, thanks for another vid to watch. Well done on the fish. The humber is fishing well the last few weeks. I just sorted my kit out for a very early session again in the morning. 4.30 a.m high water. N my rods n tripod are strapped to my electric mountain bike now as we speak lol. They are brilliant ian. All the best from GRIMSBY.

Looks beautiful looks very similar to brean beach but without the mud 😂
@ianclarkfishing4 ай бұрын
Hi Jay yes quite similar in many ways but more signs of life I think… on the downside it’s a real long walk and a bit of a drive but we will return I’m sure I think the range of species is more though I’m not sure if it produces cod in winter like Brean. The sand much more solid at Morfa plus you can fish at low water. Thanks again for watching cheers Ian

Great video Ian and Chris. Morfa looks like a bit of a scary venue to me! Its so big and featureless, where do you start unless you have a bit of local knowledge?
@ianclarkfishing4 ай бұрын
Hi Gordon yes a vast beach with not discernible features for sure…., however we were informed to walk towards the steel works until you came across markers anglers had left above the high tide marks to indicate the right area. Unfortunately this was 2 miles down the beach!😂😂😂 I agree knowledge is definitely key!!!! All the best cheers Ian

the walk to that place is not for the fainthearted is it mate ,its a great smooth hound mark on the right tide ,i once had 23 in one session all on prawn a friend fishing with me had 26 only stopped because the bait ran out , great vid keep them coming ian ATB les

You’re not kidding about the walk mate!!! Didn’t fish well when we were there unfortunately How does it fish September/ October??? Maybe up for another trip later this year? Cheers Ian
@troywales9833 ай бұрын
@@ianclarkfishing not great , i find its more of a summer mark for the hounds ,and the walk after rain will kill you it is nothing but mud and deep puddles

it amazes me that they are so common on that side of the brissel channel and not on your side
@ianclarkfishing4 ай бұрын
Hi Nick do you mean the hounds??? Very few on my local beach at Brean (2 in all our time) but they quite plentiful on the reefs beyond Hinckley down to Minehead That said although we didn’t do well on our trip they can be a nuisance on Morfa at times…. In the video we reference the fact that every shell has a hermit crab in it so I’m sure that’s one reason!!! Thanks again for watching cheers Ian
@frederickpritchard9944 ай бұрын
You can cut through the Margam trading estate off M4 and arrive at the level crossing main line but parking here is a bit risky with vandals and thefts..... Just be lucky 😮

Yes we were informed of that route but decided against it for safety reasons cheers Ian

Hi mate how you doing?? Lovely tide for Brean for sure….. if you can dig some lug that’s great otherwise get some rag I would fish smallish hooks size 2 perfect as some sole about amongst the bass!!!! Fish 3 hours before high until just after Let me know how you get on cheers Ian
@thehares24 ай бұрын
@@ianclarkfishing dig for lug he said...by the time rich and i finished digging half of brean beach it looked like the d day landings...then the fork handle snapped..all for maybee a dozen decent lug...wind was gale force so we feel like weve been sand blasted..bite indication almost impossible...pretty much the norm for us...loved it...see you soon mate...

Nice day, look like the wind was blowing looking at the sand. The brown scum on the water and deposits on the beach looked like algae - was it solid or just wind froth?
@frederickpritchard9944 ай бұрын
Turbot territory when the weather is right 😮

Scum was algae but didn’t attach to the line at all which was great….. certainly a beach with lots of marine life to it there were thousands of hermit crabs all on the shore. Wind was a pain though…., thanks for watching cheers Ian

Used to fish there regular 30 years ago, no hounds in those days, it was all small-eyed and turbot, odd bass, dabs and dogs. Even codling in autumn. Could scrape a couple of sand eels out of the sand by dragging your heels along the beach at low water.
@shaunjones60494 ай бұрын
The beach looks very similar to Brean beach 🤔 looking down the beach it even looks like Brean down in the distance 😀 I bet you missed the ice cream van ,😀 , and one of those Weston donkeys would have been handy to carry your kit down the beach 👍 Do you ever catch hounds from Brean ?
@ianclarkfishing4 ай бұрын
Hi Shaun yes it definitely had a Brean vibe about it but I must say there was more marine life there than our local beach Great idea about the donkey do you have a spare one???
