“The rich get richer” is the same concept hecs was sort of arguing when talking about giving the top teams access to the game early. Giving the top teams early access would give them advantages over people who are up in coming and every year just keep creating this loop where aspiring players are just behind the curve.

There needs to be a “Players Association” that the devs work hand in hand with to make competitive. Devs don’t know what comp players want or what breaks the game from a competitive standpoint. No one knows more than the players.
@uncores5122
@uncores5122 5 жыл бұрын
doophie The thing is they did ask pros but they brought out a bunch of morons who are too young to understand. Like kenny was out there and don’t get me wrong he’s a beast but i’d way rather crim be making comp rules.

Uncores * this was before the game released though. I mean have a dedicated group of reputable pros throughout the year making these decisions.
@ramp622
@ramp622 5 жыл бұрын
I agree with that, but youd be surprised how many pros have awful ideas. Like they are great at the game but their ideas are dogshit. Like in fortnite a lot of pros suggest such outlandish things that would ruin the game in my opinion. Even crimsix could suggest something that would benefit him personally but overall would be a bad move. Its a hard thing to do. My opinion, is bring in the team that made league play for bo2. Problem 100% solved.

The disrespect and jealousy on predators name is astounding, before anything you were a sniping clan and let’s not ignore the millions of views pred brought you back when 100k was the most you’d usually see on a good vid. You used him. Threw him under the bus and now act as if he never existed. Disgraceful to call yourself an OG and not pay respect to a legend like him.

Just wondering: If Optic doesn't take anything of the earned prize pool, how do they make their money? Only with sponsor deals etc.? Never thought about it, but for me it was normal, that orgs take a certain percentage.
@roodlyfbuts8006
@roodlyfbuts8006 5 жыл бұрын
myhomie94 I don't think so, (but maybe). If anything they pay for the trip. Probably merchandise, ad revenue and sponsorships and money the owners already had pay for everything. Optic is also like half owned by a baseball team, so they have lots of resources. I know back in bo2 player salaries were only $400 a month, even if they were 10x today. So it's not like everything is super expensive. They probably make WAY more than it costs to stay in business.
@dozaroner642
@dozaroner642 5 жыл бұрын
Content creation, sponsorships, merch, and when your company/org is as big and arguably the most recognisable in esports they would get things for free just have to promote it in a vid briefly or whatever just like social media influencers. And the discount codes for various products liķe scuffs, control freaks etc im sure they get something out of it for everyone that uses the code and makes a purchase. H3cz is a great business man who knows how to hustle so im sure there are numerous other things they do to create revenue.

@69:08 Talking about how to make a competitive environment where you can scout good players for franchising, Ian drops the bomb I think needs to be heard. Give me FRAckINg Halo2 match ranking for PUBS. That shit was fun and that shit was fair for the most part. Sure you had groups that would power drop their account just to pub stomp now and then but for the most part, the pubs were able to show who was good and who wasn't. Especially when you got to the actual competitive groups. He talks about str8rippin' dude was probably the FIRST person ever to montage and get "famous" on youtube. I gained a lot of respect for Ian and Optic in general from this interview.

I think with all this money pro players and team owners are making there is literally no excuse on why you guys don’t take a day every 3-6 months and meet up in one place for lunch like LA and go over all this stuff with CWL instead of complaining or trying to do it on skype, discoed etc. You could jump on a flight from destination A at 5 A.M, fly to destination B have a 3 to 4 hour lunch meeting and fly back and be back home by well before supper time.. wild.

both got no clue about pc gaming im sorry. soooo easy to limit the max fps that you can use on a server + fps wont make a huge difference, its mostly about the monitor as crim said himself. so im a poor kid playing on an old tv with 12ms delay, youre a rich programer with almost 0ms and 144hz, whos gonna have an advantage? youre also basically saying that all the companies youre sponsored by sell bullshit. is a scuff controller, 144mhz monitor, gunnar glasses, and an energy drink not gonna give me an advantage?no hate, love you all. but ive been playing fps esports since 2003 on pc and back then we had huge limitations because of fairness. also our anticheat software actually worked and banned peoples mac address and not just their account :D

BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO HAVE MULTIPLAYER BE LIKE COMPETITIVE WE WANT TO HAVE FUN NOT SWEAT OUR ASSES OFF ALL DAY!!! WHERE IS THE VSAT? WHERE IS GROUND WAR? LIKE NO. GTFO YOU ARE SO WRONG IN THAT ASPECT. LEAVE COMPETITIVE TO COMPETITVE AND ONLINE TO ONLINE BC A LARGE % OF THE PLAYER BASE DOESNT EVEN WATCH KZbin OR TWITCH. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT COMPETITIVE.

Its kind of shocking that the ruleset is the way it is, its around the 30:00 mark. If you look at black ops 2, even their competitive playlist (league play) knew better then to allow riot shields rpgs ect, so im not sure why a organization would put out a ruleset that isn't the 100% competitive. If black ops 2 had the smarts to do it way back in the day for $0 matches then you would assume when they're actually playing for money that it would be perfect. Honestly shocking. If their play is to make the game more fun to watch then I get that, but its just not right in my opinion. I just look at bo2 as the premiere example of what a competitive call of duty should be.

I think it's kinda disappointing hearing you talk about fortnite like TSM and FaZe have the only personality set when that's just not true with teams like Liquid and Ghost and various F/A streamers/pros that are big

Hecz is wrong about paper advertising going away. It’s the opposite. A flyer in the mailbox has a higher success rate than emails. It’s easier to ignore digital, spam filters or just scrolling by. But you can’t avoid something in your hand or on the road.

Hecz. Feedback: it shouldn’t take 37 mins to get to Crimsix’s story. I think you should start there, with all guests.

Just use the MMR system from Dota2. So many players get scouted from the ranked playlists to top pro teams. It's annoying but honestly it works. You don't climb the ranks unless you are truly better than the other people in your game.

Why can't they just have a multitwitch and promote that? Then nobody is left out... and then just put the names in alphabetical order so nobody can bitch about whose name goes first... just thinking outside the box...

Call of duty can do soooo much more in advertising their game in all aspects. Like a crim said, a simple Twitter ad can go a long way. And if these ads contain clips of pros whether it be a nasty play or funny twitch stream(like the nfl) it will get so many of these fortnite kids watching COD.

what COD competitive needs most is set weapons for each player and one wild card. 1 guy with a snipe, 1 guy with a submachine gun, 1 guy with an assault rifle, one guy with a light machine gun and 1 wild card who can use what ever they want. It gets sooo boring watching everyone use the same 2 guns. they find the best sub and the best AR and those are the only 2 guns you will see for 5 hrs

im of the belief if the org pays a guaranteed salary you shouldn't keep any of your winnings until that salary is paid in full. then you should have a negotiated split on winnings. its tournament prize competition. the org is saying no problem here is guaranteed salary so you can dedicate your time to winning. when you win we recoup what you have been advanced. its one thing to say here is flight and a room for the event so their org can have a place and advertise their sponsors. its another to be handing out up to 100k for a salary, that might see no return. wanna know whats bad for business? bad ROI
