Was so lucky to see Mossy in concert a few years ago now. After the show I went to a very small, quiet bar for an after show beer with a mate and who comes in 15 mins later but Mr Moss himself. Told him how great his show was and asked if I could buy him a beer. Short version of the story is he asked us to join him and we had a great hour or so yarning (talking) with him, he joined in a good old Aussie shout (buying equal rounds of beers) and was just the nicest, most humble and down to earth person you would ever meet. He is so often underrated as both a singer and guitarist when he is simply world-class at both and a wonderful guy to go with it. Check out the live version of Georgia on The Barking Spiders Live 1983 album by Cold Chisel...breathtaking!

I have to say that we were very lucky growing up in a very rich musical period here in Oz. Yes there was an alternative musical universe for all countries I guess but it’s just a part of the Great Australian Songbook that we all floated on back then. Very happy you are seeing it, enjoy.

Ian wrote the song ‘Janelle’ about a friend of mine. Never missed a performance in a Melbourne venue. We were a generation that grew up singing to John Farnham, partying with cold chisel, the angels, AC/DC and INXS , our heroines were Renee Geyer, Chrissy amphlett and Marcia Hines . It’s rare to find an Aussie over 50 who can’t ‘Sang’ ( or at least think they can after a few drinks 😂) Miss the good old days

Oh it's soooo cool to see someone react to Ian Moss, really. I think it's the first time I see a reaction about him. Love Cold Chisel and it's cool that Jimmy Barnes got international recognition, sure. But as far as Jimmy Barnes got impressive pipes I've always loved Ian Moss tone so much. Voice is a conveyor to me and Ian Moss conveys a lot. He can sing but it's so much about his tone, signature. It's a shame that this guy is kinda Australian's kept secret (aussies will tell me otherwise if I'm wrong). To tell you how much I'm found of his tone, he is the one that makes me love equally live version of song When the war is over performed by Cold Chisel than when it's sung by mighty incredible exceptional John Farnham. Guess it says a lot because Farnham is such an incredible great singer. + Ian Moss is a very good guitar player too, same a his singing : it's not about what you want to show off, it's about what you have to tell. Greetings from France.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if Cold Chisel were from lets say New Jersey. They would be in The Rock n Roll hall of fame now. They are that good. Two great but distinctive vocals with one possible having the greatest set of pipes ever. One of the greatest song writers, as well as every member of the band writing classic hit songs. As musicians, all are at the top of their field. Even the extra musicians are the best. They also played every style of music.

Yes, I knew watching the cold chisel video with him and Barnes that he has a strong and amazing powerful voice, but he’s not all flash and fireworks like barnes . And I know that he didn’t make a huge impression on you though you thought he was good, because he didn’t comment in the video but you agreed with my comment that was complementing his talent. He is more sizzle compared to Barnes’ fire. He really takes his time with a song and gives it a lot of nuance and it builds up to a crescendo at the end.Though I don’t know if he does that here, but I could see him being the kind of singer who builds up slowly to a crescendo, a great climax toward the end of a song.

I agree with Kane......as for Tommy Emmanuel, he is so good he now makes a living touring the world and teaching guitar students from the Conservatoriums how to play....... This started when a classical guitar teacher took his students to see Tommy play...... he told them they would learn more in 5 minutes than he could ever teach them. I love Jimmie as the front man, but my favourite Cold Chisel number is when Mossie took the leed and Jimmie did the back up vocals. Saturday Night I usually prefer the better live performances, but just this once the original promo video is the best. The camera tells the story on the mean streets of Kings Cross, Sydney. SATURDAY NIGHT...... you gotta watch it, and listen at full volume.
