"They came here with a game plan and they executed it well", is the most backhanded compliment in football. It's what you say when a team puts 10 men behind the ball and try to eke out a draw. Newcastle outplayed Arsenal for large portions of the game and then closed out the game to protect their lead for the home leg, it's a bit different. To be honest, most people in the north are well past expecting the cockney media giving our teams any respect. Other than the cartel clubs, the snobbery on display, especially from ex-arsenal players for some reason (Wright, Merson, Dixon, Keown etc), is beyond a joke and most people don't pay attention to the pundits anymore
