[Ib] Puppet (Mary's theme) - In game (slower) version

This is Mary's theme in the game Ib. This song plays at some various spots like the beginning of the crayon area, when you first meet Mary, the ending "Together, Forever".
The sound file in the game folder is .mid and to my surprise, the music is actually sped up faster than in the game. So I decided to record the music from in-game and then rip it. I love this music SO SO much, my second favorite music in Ib. The first one is Ib's theme, aka the title music.

What made me sad was burning Mary's house/stuff. I really didn't want to, infact I felt REALLLY sorry for Mary. All she wanted was to be real also and have actual friendships with Ib and Garry and not just some creepy dolls. Let's be a painting friend, embrace it well, make sure it stays hung centered in the Gallery for all to see, all to witness Mary's greatness! That's another thing I wanted!!! At the good end when you escape with Garry the least they could've done was give Mary her OWN painting with a FAMILY!!!!!!! >.

Another good ending that fans made is that Garry stayed in the painting and let Ib and Mary escape. After sometime time, Garry manage to find a way out on his own and soon found Ib and Mary again being much older that before. Since time never past in the painting Garry stayed the same and he and Ib became lovers and Mary is Ib best friend.. The End

I can't be the only wan who strongly empathized with Mary, can I? I mean, just look at it from her perspective. Her whole life, ever since she was painted by Gary, all she could do was stare out of the painting at all the real people. As they talked about their day at the fair, how good that coffee was, where they'll go after the gallery... She just wanted that too. Mary wanted to have friends and experience those things. So she did what she had to do to live like the other people, instead of being trapped in the Gallery forever. You've got to remember; she was trapped in there since she was painted, which has to be many years since Gary had died a long time ago. I know that people really loved Gary, and since she (attempted) to kill him, that's why you hate her, but I can tell where she's coming from and why she did it. The poor thing. ):

Mary cares about other people. She really just doesn't know how to show how. The crayon paintings she made of Ib, Gary and herself in the crayon world art gallery made me tear up. The very fact she wanted to leave that world even though she's an almighty presence in it and can control anything and make anything bend to her will, and instead make real friends in the real world, shows that she cares. In Together Forever, she'd have proper parents and understand what it meant to be human.

That's a good point. For all we know, Garry and Ib might not be the only people trapped in the gallery. After all, Garry and Ib are just two random people. What would make them so special that they were the only ones who entered the painting world? Either Mary did not know of other parties within the gallery, or she did not want to risk losing the only party she had found so far.

I really can't help it... she's growing on me. I used to dislike her, but people convinced me to try to voice her and I ended up liking her more. She was pretty misunderstood. She just wanted friends, and she took out Garry because she was feeling threatened by him, since she didn't want Ib to leave without her. I can imagine she felt bad about it, but didn't show it. I also loved how in the game, the mirror cracks if you try to look at it when you're with Mary.

Because she can't leave the gallery with her body, so she has to kill someone from the outside world and take their body so that she can leave, see the real world, and have friends. The only people from the outside world available to her were Ib and Garry; and even though she liked them, her only choice was to kill one of them to see the outside world.

That's Kouri's intention from the beginning, yes. Mary is determined to be the antagonist in the story. I think Kouri just focus on showing Ib and Garry's relationship in the "Promise of Reunion".

I could do anything in my fathers world, well... almost anything... None of the figures or paintings talked to me, they were fun to play with, but not a single word would come out... Then they just stoped playing with me... I was getting so lonely, I wished someone would come, just so i could hear their voice, and then Ib and Garry came! It was the happiest day in my life, even if I never get out, I'll remember the time i spent with them forever...

Mary is one of the Guetera's paintings. Her plan was to kill someone, anyone, who got trapped in the other gallery, and then using the void opened in the real world to escape. When she got out everyone's memory was changed to include her, and she wound up being included as Ib's younger sister.

in the game over's screen, the music that play is called " The Little Doll's Dream". I think it mean that, when Ib die, Mary take her place in the real world (in the game you can read something Mary writed talking about that)

It's funny. Mary's tragedy wounded my heart in my childhood, and 10 years later I'd find that very same wound torn open by a very similar brunette woman, with a very similar tragedy. I suppose there's not much difference between oil on a canvas and a dark puddle of ink. All you need to do is move your hand...

I agree. As well this is shown when you talk to Mary (when you and Garry split up because the Flowers of Jealousy) and she starts laughing insanely. Though I actually am sorry for her. You know, who wouldn't get insane after seeing all these visitors and realize that unless you kill somebody, you will never be like them...

Of all other games , this game has the BEST story line ! There's also different endings , most of them are sad , which is AMAZING ! I WANT TO DOWNLOAD THIS GAME ! :D

if you play through the game and have garry alive at the end when you jump through the painting, the mom will appear and attempt to keep you in the painted world. if you choose to go with the mom, garry will scream at you and ask what you are doing as you are walking away with her. The screen will go static for an instant and you'll see ib walking away by herself. This probably means that shes ib's illusion and the garry that appears when you try to jump through alone is also an illusion.

Somewhere in the game there was a book that appears to be a sort of journal for the artist. In there he explained that some of the best works of art are ones that people put their entire souls into. So then after, he said he would put his soul into each and every work he created. Perhaps this is why the gallery is alive. I have no idea why they're trying to kill you or why you got sucked in but that's just my theory on why it's alive in the first place.
