My late nan had the exact same one. I really wouldn’t trust getting these vintage machines posted as too often they get damaged like this during transit.

I get vintage vacuums shipped all the time. It depends on the carrier, the distance, and luck. I only had approximately 3 out of about 65 arrive broken in 6 years span. I would never "pick up" a vacuum from several states away, you spend 6 times what the vacuum cost in gas and it takes about 4-5 days to get there.

Yes, I returned it for a refund. I was hoping to be able to keep it and get a refund, but sadly the seller wanted it back. I returned it in the same box but with the handle separated so it didn’t have the handle sticking out of the box.

eBay sellers and sellers on any platform that cant be bothered to pack their items properly should be banned. It’s lazy.

Most of these sellers are migrating from other selling platforms because eBay holds the market monopoly and other markets do not get any traffic. So they have zero experience at selling and shipping and just literally throw it in a box.

I feel bad for you Roger. I've ordered 3 vacuums from the UK from here in Indiana, USA and they all arrived with no damage. I have no idea how you can order something so close to you and they smash it. It must be your local couriers doing it. All mine arrived through ParcelForce, maybe they are better handlers.

I’ve had vacuums delivered by Parcelforce that were broken. It’s all down to how well they are packed in the first place.

@@ibaisaic Parcelforce is generally horrible like Evri. I’ve caught parcels thankfully being light but being thrown *at* my door. Many stories of stuff getting stolen and broken.

Oh that is disgusting how do they get away with selling that they need to be banned from eBay. Obviously they don't look after their items. If i owned a vacuum like that I'd be embarrassed for one I'd be getting my council to come and take it to the tip. 😢😢😢😢😢

I looked it up, and I'm not sure that's a male black widow. But even if it was, the males have weaker venom and are not considered dangerous.
