The comment at 7:36 wanted to say: "it might have something to do with the new, thicker string set which is a bottom 62 instead of a 59 gauge". Gosh, really nothing works lately.

Having tried both the stock Gibraltar and the Hipshot on the same guitar, I really wasn't convinced that the Hipshot was better. The Gibraltar is way superior design wise, open back saddles so no messing around while inserting the strings into the body, easy intonation adjustment because of the hex screws, taller saddles, base plate that matches the radius of the fretboard etc. The Hipshot surely feels heavier and better quality while holding but I didn't feel any tonal difference at all.
@philfrank56013 жыл бұрын
I didn't hwar any improvement eother...Gibraltar is a great bridge. Hipshot looks badass, though. Purely cosmetic, imo.

I've tried a gibraltar equipped guitar several times, I find that palm muting is always really uncomfortable because of that sharp corner on the side that sticks out. I much prefer the normal hardtail ibanez bridge that's on the gios. Never tried a hipshot, but it looks very similar to the gio hardtail

the biggest problem of Gibraltar II is, like me living in Hong Kong, the humid weather will let the bridge oxidized within a half year. Even if it is your ibanez is a prestige series, the bridge installed is the normal Gibraltar II with the same material.

some friendly advice come if you're going to cut your strings anyway, don't unravel the strings all the way off the post.
