Guys. Keep making these type of honest and analitical reviews and ull be better than Andertons. Exactly the type of review im in for.

Thank you so much! This one really called for a blind test and was a ton of fun to set up. It was really revealing, too.

We want to apologize to our discerning viewers for one of the guitars being out of tune in these two videos... when shooting, listening in the room, focusing on a thousand details to get a fair blind comparison test going, we didn't stop to consider just how out of tune one of the guitars was! Ooph! It probably sounded "a little out" in the room but we hadn't considered the long-term usefulness of this review, so we didn't stop to re-tune the guitar. It wasn't until editing after that we really noticed how bad the tuning was, but there was no way to re-do this blind test. We had been testing and playing these guitars for more than a month, though. Nothing changes about our opinions of them or of their sound, but yes, we messed up that important detail, and now for all time, this will be the review video with one guitar not quite in tune :-p. Thanks!

I wish the hardtail Prestige came in that blue. Or even the premium's combo color.
@theSmolniy Жыл бұрын
you forgot about neck wood differences between those blue ones, this is what does make sound so different.

Saya suka dengan model gitar ibanez S dan ibanez RG

Funny that nobody mentioned the neck wood that could be the most significant reason for the difference in the tone from the Premium vs Prestige.

Man these vids need more views! I wish I had seen this when I tried to pick! Ended up going with a prestige rg which is legit amazing just a joy to play. But I found a blue premium s just like that one but a 7 string used for cheap so I ended up with that too! My example of the premium had a little fret sprout but I do my own luthier work for the most part as long as it's nothing major. My prestige needed nothing not even a set up. So maybe I got a better than normal prestige and slightly subpar premium? Hard to say but dang is the top beautiful just baffles me how Ibanez has their "middle" tier guitars looking like they're competing with PRS wood library or something and then their top of the line prestige and j customs are mostly very plain jane. It's a weird marketing decision.

Yes. We have been really impressed by the Premium range. Most of the guitars we've reviewed from it are every bit as good as the Prestige line, simply made in the Indonesia factory instead of Japan. You can really choose between both lines purely based on what you prefer sound and feature-wise.

A pity the guitars were so out of tune

Yeah, that kinda ruined it for me. Out of tune guitar for testing? Dumb.

the premium is the only one with ss frets, thats the one for me

The Prestige is the only one both assembled and inspected in Japan.

We agree, although we have observed good stuff coming from Indonesia as well in recent offerings.

I would love to do guitar blind tests. Who else?

It is NOT easy playing in 100% darkness. If you liked these, you're going to LOVE the new blind test we're publishing this coming week! Be sure to like and subscribe so you see it coming... unlike our reviewer who did not see anything coming :-). HINT: Iconic American rock guitars next...

@@musicplayersnow yes I believe it is hard to play blindfolded. What I mean is that it would be fun to see if I would get it right to make the right judgements of every guitar according to their type. For example if they would give me the Prestige and the Regular then I should be able to know which one I'm holding because one of the differences is the Prestige has a flatter fretboard radius, 1 inch difference.

The cheap one was out of tune throughout both videos. Ibanez ditched the Edge trem on anything but there highest priced models.... and in 2016 went back to the scarf joint..which to me, compared to their 3 or multi piece necks, is trash especially if they are not putting a solid finish on them. I own 9 S series ...even have my 87 still and the newest ones are the silver ash top and a blue model of the one you have here (cheapest) . Both necks have twisted... That 3 piece lam that they used from 05 = 2015 is the best way to make a neck if you are going to use non kiln dried or roasted maple necks. My tech agrees with the assumption that they are using woods that are not ready. My old scarf jointed 80's - 90's and other guitars have never had this issue. Since 2016 Ibanez has put all their R&D in the new lines, and rightly so..... that is where they are making most of their money now. The S series was never huge ....I can't off the top of my head think of anyone other than Frank Gambale who ever played them...I'm sure there are more. I love my good ones, they are my favorite guitars. Plus most up and comers hate locking trems for whatever reason. My latest acquisition was a RFR RG 550... fret sprout on the whole neck basically but got it fixed and love it. You cannot find anything near that price made in Japan.
