Old thread, but ya never know who's looking for info. So... 2:51 - What you're seeing is the fake birdseye maple 'applique' that's on top of a maple neck starting to bubble up where the string posts are applying pressure. That's obviously why it's happening on the side that's being pulled. Also, given the year, pickups, and opaque color, it's likely that this guitar is made of 'Resoncast', a blend of alder sawdust and resin. Yes, Alternatively known as 'MDF'. I bought a new leftover, for something like $300 in '95 w/ hardshell case. Black w/ cream guard. I found the lipstick tubes to be too weak for my taste, so today mine has a custom pickguard (like a black flake), and three Fender Fat 50s pickups. Massive upgrade, but now it's competing w/ my Strats and it loses in every area. I still have all the original parts, so it would be easy to return it to stock. I might just do that, sell it, and use those great pickups for another Strat.

Hello just bought one of these Talmans ....I don’t currently have a truss rod wrench that fits....so when you say it uses a Gibson wrench are we talking about a 5/16 as the size? Thanks in advance
