This has to be one of the best terrain tutorials using c4d only. I only wish that I came across it earlier! Great presentation! Keep the tuts coming!!!!

I used 4000cm x 4000cm for scale, and 400 x 400 for the height and width segments and that worked for me

This is great! But it would be great also to know how big was the plane and how many subdivisions has been set. I try to follow the tutorial but the results is not very cool as in this step by step tutorial. I guess because we missed how to set up the Subdivision Surface and also the plane dimensions. Any helps would be very appreciated :))
@ElFaTaL0r6 жыл бұрын
Try to set the plane to 2000cm x 2000cm with about 500 width and height segments, if it is not smooth enough with the displacer turned off, you can up that amount but be careful not to overdo it. In the noiseshader settings switch to global scale 400 % and set the space to UV (2D) that worked for me, so that i could follow from there
@gameboytech50645 жыл бұрын
ElFaTaL0r! Yeah But 250 Segments is Enough For Both. I have Done It looks Same like in This Video.

Thanks for this, awesome talk! but Is it not better to mask two materials rather than using both the snow and rock in the same material? I assume you would have more control over each material and also would not need to copy the terrain shader for each slot (bump, diffuse, reflectance etc..) Is there a way to this, mask with the terrain mask two actual materials?
@teemosoltis98314 жыл бұрын
Doing so would be useless. otherwise you would have to adjust both materials sequentially and identically instead of just using one material for it. IMHO a waste of time how you state it. Keep It simple. One material that does all of this-not two.

thank you for very informative lesson. I've got a question - what's the difference between this approach of landscape modeling and the primitive "Landscape" with it's random shapes?
@redmadpanda65323 жыл бұрын
you use only one soft

8:49 I'm on Mac and there's no way to add another noise as there's no options in the shader properties to do so, I can only add one noise

How can his Displacer displace the Plane without it being a Child of the Plane? That is a puzzlement to me....
@MET873 жыл бұрын
i'm wondering about that too!
@nulpart_exe3 жыл бұрын
because they are both child of the subdivison surface
