when i saw him in person in his prime in street clothes he was the most impressive human being physically ive ever seen. like a roman gladiator. he was never ever out of any round he ever fought and i have all them in my mind. look at frazier and ali.....beat up. Chuvalo shows no sign of all of dementia. not the best fighter but a majestic physical speciman.

My name is harold i live in toronto and the other day i had the luck off running into george chuvalo in person. he talked to me for about 10 min and i asked him who has the hardest punch and he told me george forman. and i also asked him who he thinks would win the maywheather vs pacio fight and he said maywheather. Let me tell you chuvalo is one off the all time top ten boxers that this planet has, and in my opinion can beat any boxer at any given time when he is at his best. chuvalo has a big heart and is tuff as you can get. after talked to him i felt an energy that lifted me up. i respect chuvalo and thank him for everything he has done for the sport of boxing and toronto canada. long live the legend George Chuvalo.

Mr. Chuvalo was a terrific fighter. And very underrated in all aspects of the game. He smothered a lot of shots and parry more than noted. Same with Duran in the beginning of his career all thought he was face first. George's bone structure I think caused him to bust up a little easier than most. However , hIs resume is essentially a who's who of all time greats and he beat a prime Jerry Quarry, and believe me gave Joe Frazier fits in that Joe had to lay back and counter could not match his strength until the stoppage. Bonavena, Ellis, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Williams, Paterson, Quarry, Doug Jones, and a bunch of other toughies believe me were glad the fights were over. Great Post IBHOF22!!!!

I met George in the early 1990's in Toronto where we both live. He shook my hand and my hand disappeared in his mighty grip. He was such a gentleman and the kindest big hearted human. I realized I was shaking the hand of a legend a true Canadian hero. George offered me a authographed picture and he signed it "Keep on Punching Kid" Geroge Chuvalo. I still have it and I show it off. It was such a pleasure meeting him and a memory I'll never forget. What a champion he is.

What a lovely, intelligent, dignified man George Chuvalo is. He really gave value for money in his figting days and fought the best, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Patterson, Folley, etc and gave his all. In his later years he still gives a good performance, he is articulate, interesting, informative and comes across as being a man that you would want as a friend. I know he is Canadian and has a different accent but I am struck by how similar his speaking is to Rocky Marciano. Same cadence and careful diction - maybe this his how all truly tough guys speak!

it amazes me how well his facilities have held up after all the beatings he took. very well spoken, great point about the fight with ali in canada, canada did not fight in the vietnam war, just ask ann coulter if canada sent troops to vietnam. george is an impressive guy, don't know much about croat's, but george looks like he's got some native american in him...this interview reminds me of max schmeling's respect for joe louis and vis versa, despite all that was going on around them they respected each other as fighters and human beings first, of course ali couldn't avoid it, he followed his conscience and was criminalized for it. george, as great as you were, you would have been considered one of the greatest of all time if you'd been born with some quickness in that impressive physique and toughness.
