Hello. Thanks for explaining. What I'm trying to find out is how a DIC scope would view live protists? I see videos on KZbin with these great clips using a DIC but I was wonder if it is just "drop the water on the slide and go" or is there tons of prep time to get the "good" shots. Thanks

Any chance you could provide some part numbers for the polarizer/analyzer components? I can't find anything!

was the lower prism left in for phase contrast ?

I just got an older TSM inverted microscope and I was wondering is there a camera mount or a camera made that specifically fits the neck of this microscope? I have seen what I thought was a TSM equipped with a completely different neck with a camera going straight up and the regular binocular assembly in its usual position. I have no idea what I should look for can you please help me?

Does having both PLM & PCM in the same microscope comprimise either of their qualities/accuracy? Pros are obvious, cons?

Where can I rent one of these and all the goodies for 2 hours? Amazing scope! Nikon, Canon, Leica, all make nice stuff. I need to do some color phase shift work on 4 samples. That is a great unit! How many human kidneys does it cost?

Can't forget Olympus. Been making microscopes since 1919.

Why use expensive DIC method while you can just use oblique lighting and to see absolutely the same 3D effect? You don't even need a specific instruments, just ordinary biological light microscope. All you need is to play with condenser diaphragm (about 50% closed), opaque screen in front that diaphragm and light volume.

do you have a reference for this technique used in microscopy?
