Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M1 Pro) Overview

This video is an in-depth look at my new laptop I bought back in January to replace my 2016 MacBook Pro 15-inch. This is a 2021 MacBook Pro 14-inch, specced with an Apple M1 Pro 10-core SoC, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD in a space grey chassis. This was a used one I bought on eBay, which saved me some money compared to a brand new M2 Pro MacBook Pro, which I don't feel it a good value compared to the M1 Pro based MacBooks.
In this video we cover the details of why I bought it and my needs, as well as detailed specs, an overview of the hardware features, benchmarks and comparisons to other computers, and my final thoughts and reccomendations.

Heck, also being a Windows person, Apple has been really making me want to get a Mac just to have to experiment with what their SoCs can do but since they are pricey that’s what have stopped me. But thru the years I gain some respect and especially had a 2012 MacBook Pro as a second machine but really didn’t did much with it but it wasn’t a bad machine when I did had it run macOS Big Sur and then Monterey thru open core.

Plus it’s also not like I do use at least an Apple device like my phone being a used iPhone 8 I got for mostly have it as a glucose sensor tracker and of course a phone

What is the difference between the keyboard of the MacBook Pro 13-inch and 14-inch? I noticed that the MacBook Pro 13-inch has an aluminum frame between the keys, while the MacBook Pro 14-inch uses black plastic. Is using a plastic frame a disadvantage for the MacBook Pro 14-inch keyboard?

Other than the Touch Bar and/or smaller function keys on the 13-inch M1/M2 MacBook Pro and M1 MacBook Air it's exactly the same. I think the black plastic frame of the keyboard is just cosmetic, typing on the keyboard feels as solid as a rock, no deck flex to speak of at all so I doubt you'd see any difference between the two.

Battery life on the 12th gen intel laptops is absolute dogshit. im guessing due to lack optimisation due to the switch over to the big little architecture. The previous generations albeit less powerful from 8th to 11th gen have far superior battery life. Also Lenovo moving the cooling vent to the right of the machine on their new thinkpads is one of the most idiotic decisions ive ever seen. I've only really bought and owned ex lease thinkpads and I think the t480 is the last one ill ever own because the vent is on the left (correct) side. Also makes sense that the p14 had such shit battery life, 52wh capacity is anemic in something with a processor that powerful and a discrete gpu
