This video came at a particularly difficult period of my life. My beautiful 32yo son had died of a fentanyl overdose. We adopted him at 6yo from an orphange in Hungary charged with physical and many other kinds of abuse. He was the protector of his two siblings, taking beatings for them and abuse. He fathered them; the trauma was very deep. He used drugs to dull the pain. Abused kids too commonly take this easy way out. He was exceptionally bright. He studied in jail deeply the works of Idries Shah and Plato. He really understood them. I loved this kid deeply; we had an almost telepathic connection. This video on Ibn Arabi filled in a missing piece for me. Loving Greg was a process of looking deeply and finding that Divine spark inside him that he had begun polishing. I looked and found that spark and saw my own reflection. Existence is at its core the Divine love. From the despair of loss this lecture helped me find the core of love from the Source. This post is unlike most others. You may delete it. I wanted to communicate the peace that your work provided me, Thank you g please no "sorry for your loss" wrong forum. I realized there is no loss, I know the source of my love now, it radiated through him.

Also,one notices from the Gospel of John 1:21 that the Jews were waiting for the fulfillment of 3 distinct prophecies: The 1st was the coming of the Christ. The 2nd was the coming of the Elijah. The 3rd was the coming of the Prophet (Muhammad, an Arabian messenger mentioned in Duetornomy 18:15-22 to fulfill the prophecies of Isaiah 42 (Bible). Indeed Bible mentions the pilgrims passing through the valley of Ba’ca (another name of Makka) in Psalms 84:4-6. 📖 Isaiah 42:1-13 speaks of the beloved of GOD. His elect and messenger who will bring down a law to be awaited in the isles and who “shall not fail not be discouraged till he have set judgment on earth.” (Isaiah 42:4) 📖 Isaiah 42, Verse 11 connects that awaited one with the descendants of Ke’dar. Who is Ke’dar? According to 📖 Genesis 25:13, Ke’dar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). 📖 Psalms 84:4-6 NKJV "Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools." The Awaited Prophet Was to Come From Arabia: 📖 Deuteronomy 33:1-2 combines references to Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. It speaks of God (i.e. God’s revelation) coming from Sinai, rising from Seir (probably the village of Sa’ir near Jerusalem) and shining forth from Paran. According to 📖 Genesis 21:21, the wilderness of Paran was the place where Ishmael settled (i.e. Arabia, specifically Makka). The Old Testament also tells us that Ishmael dwelt in a place called Paran: 📖 "While he (Ishmael) was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt." [Genesis 21:21] It's also an act of sacrifice by Abraham to leave his beloved son Ishmael in the desert for the sake of ALLAH. 📖 Then GOD said, "Take your son, your only son (at that time Ishmael was the only son not Isaac), whom you love, and Sacrifice him..- Gen 22:2 (NIV) Ibrahim sacrificed his love for Ishmael to please the True God. if Christian missionary/monk/church/paster/priests or Jewish rabbis try to deceive you by telling the open lie that Ishmael is abandoned or banished, then never believe those lairs/deceivers. Because Ishmael is included in the covenant of Abraham and told that he will be blessed by GOD in Torah. 📖 Isaiah 60:7 New American Bible All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered for you, the rams of Nebaioth shall serve your needs; They will be acceptable offerings on my altar, and I will glorify my glorious house. 📖 Genesis 25:13 clearly sayss that Kedar and Nebaioth are sons of Ishmael. Now we can see that Bible clearly speaks about the Hajj in Mekkha and the rising of the Final prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) of Bible from Medinah, Saudi Arabia. Because the Arabia shall Rejoice by His coming. Moving to Isaiah 42:11, we see that prophecy gives 2 special places; Kedar and Sela: 📖 Isaiah 42:11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit; let the inhabitants of Sela sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. The Old Testament scholar Charles Foster also identifies the the "Land of Kedar" with ‘Hedjaz’ which is Western Saudi Arabia including its famous cities of Makkah and Madina. [Charles Foster, The historical geography of Arabia, P. 130] We can see, like the Qur’an, Abraham is given glad tidings with respect to his descendants. That's why Isaiah talks about the rejoicing of the inhabitants of Kedar (2nd son of Ishmael), which is Western Saudi Arabia, Medinah city where our prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), migrated and the people of sela sang with joy to welcome the true prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) mentioned in Isaiah 42 and duetornomy 18:15-22 (Bible)! In fact GOD promises to establish his covenant with all of Abraham’s “seed” without exception: 📖 Genesis 17:7 I (GOD) will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your GOD and the GOD of your descendants after you. God informs Abraham that the sign of the covenant shall be circumcision: 📖 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. [Genesis 17:10] We are told that Abraham immediately circumcises himself and Ishmael, thus establishing God’s covenant with Ishmael: 📖 On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him. [Genesis 17:23] we are told that Ishmael will have many descendants and that he will be “made into a great nation”: 📖 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of 12 rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. [Genesis 17:20] A great nation must refer to one led by a Prophet since this is greatness in GOD’s sight, not mere wealth or power. Throughout the Bible, many disbelieving and evil nations achieved great wealth and power, so it makes more sense that GOD’s promise about Ishmael must amount to spiritual, and not material, blessing. Remember Isaiah 42:11 confirms it by mentioning the rejoicing of the Land of Kedar. New International Version 📖 Isaiah 42:11 Let the wilderness and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela (in Medina) sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops One of the earliest biographies of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Tabaqat Ibn Sa’d (d. 845 CE), documents one of the chains of genealogy, which confirms that the Prophet was a direct descendant of Ishmael through his second son Kedar. In summary we have established that Ishmael and his descendants, specifically Kedar, settled in modern day Western Saudi Arabia.Recall that Isaiah mentions Kedar in conjunction with a ‘Sela’:Isaiah 42:11 “Let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela sing for joy…“Whilst it’s true that Saudi Arabia represents a wide geographic region, the use of the word ‘Sela’ pinpoints an exact location. The place being spoken of is actually the city of Madinah because ‘Sela’ is the name of a famous mountain in Madinah. Madinah was the city of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) 📖 3:187 (And remember) when ALLAH took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) to make it (the news of the coming of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and the religious knowledge) known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it, but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And indeed worst is that which they bought. If anyone wants to research further then I highly recommend “Prophet Muhammad: The Last Messenger In The Bible” by Kais Al Kalby which is easily the best book on this topic. Very comprehensive and even goes into Muhammad (ﷺ) in the Hindu and Zoroastrian scriptures.

Islam emphasizes the absolute uniqueness and singularity of GOD in his essence, attributes, qualities, and acts. As stated in Surat al-Ikhlas: GOD is Ahad (the unique one of absolute oneness, who is indivisible in nature, and there can be no other like him); GOD is al-Samad (the ultimate source of all existence, the uncaused cause who created all things out of nothing, who is eternal, absolute, immutable, perfect, complete, essential, independent, and self-sufficient; who needs nothing while all of creation is in absolute need of him; the one eternally and constantly required and sought, depended upon by all existence and to whom all matters will ultimately return); he begets not, nor is he begotten (He is Unborn and Uncreated, has no parents, wife or offspring); and comparable/equal to him, there is none. Who is ALLAH? It is important to note that "ALLAH" is the same word that Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews use for GOD. If you pick up an Arabic Bible, you will see the word "ALLAH" being used where "GOD" is used in English. This is because "ALLAH" is a word in the Arabic language equivalent to the English word "God" with a capital "G". Additionally, the word "ALLAH" cannot be made plural, a fact which goes hand-in-hand with the Islamic concept of GOD" ALLAH is referring to GOD, Creator Who is One. Infinite, Eternal, no vision can grasp Him. Sustainer of all that exists. Noah, Abraham, Solomon, David, Ismael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them) all taught to pray to GOD alone. Who is ALLAH? 2:155 ALLAH - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He (ALLAH) knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He (ALLAH) is the Most High, the Most Great. Holy Qur'an, Surah Baqarah, Verse 255 Who is ALLAH? 59:22. He is ALLAH. There is no god but He, the Knower of secrets and declarations. He is the Compassionate, the Merciful. 59:23. He is ALLAH; besides Whom there is no god; the Sovereign, the Holy, the Peace-Giver, the Faith-Giver, the Overseer, the Almighty, the Omnipotent, the Overwhelming. Glory be to ALLAH, beyond what they associate. 59:24. He is ALLAH; the Creator, the Maker, the Designer. His are the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him. He is the Majestic, the Wise. The Quran, surah Al-Hashr 59:22-24 | It is He (ALLAH) Who created the Night and the Day, and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course.(21:33). All [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming; each in an orbit floating; all (orbs) travel along swiftly in their celestial spheres. "And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not bow down (worship or prostrate) to the sun nor to the moon, but only bow down (worship or prostrate) to "ALLAH" Who created them, if you (really) worship Him." [Quran Chapter 41:37] 55:5 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation (determined by ALLAH)!

This is so perfect and beautiful, I have had many of these realizations myself and through the lenses of Christianity and western philosophy. To see even things and metaphors like the projector or mirrors used in the same sense I have written in my most private ramblings is so reassuring, God is surely there, wherever you turn. Another metaphor I have used in trying to explain God to non believers is that We are as if in an ocean. Each of us, imagine, that we are drops. We imagine All the buildings and trees and even other people, as shapes in this water. Like water held in different containers, and we so stratify it that we interpret it as everything else. The person who doesn't believe in God sees everything else. But the true believer sees everything slowly melt over the course of his journey, like ice melting into the ocean, each stratified color and drop subsumed into one flow.

About the white light metaphor, it reminds me of Al Ghazali's work Misykat al-Anwar, his interpretation of Qs Nûr:35. In which he said - in relation to colors being the result of refraction through prism - the light of beings is non existant, or completely reliant to the primary source of light. Take for an example the light coming from the sun, which shines upon other objects and make them glow or visible. When it casts on a reflective object like mirror or glass, it can light up the dark and make objects in a room visible. Such is the metaphor of existence of beings, in relation to the source. Wallahu'alam..

He headed to Switzerland but couldn't get in as a bigamist......the Swiss relented, but I'm not sure if they allowed him to bring all his wives. Kemal Ataturk said he "feared the people" because Islam had so brainwashed them. and at one stage, in desperation said, "I wish we could convert them all to Christianity". Why did he say that, he was an atheist ? Because Christianity is a veneer and easily shrugged off : Islam penetrates every aspect of life and thoroughly retards the individual making them incapable of rational thought.

Thank you for this most excellent presentation. It is absolutely important to clearly distinguish between a philosopher and a mystic as their respective natures are fundamentally different from one another. Whilst a philosopher's source of knowledge is intellectual speculation, a mystics source of knowledge is the transcendence of individuality/selfhood, thus in a way becoming knowledge itself. Even though a mystic may use his intellect and reason to communicate his insight to others, this does under no circumstances make him a philosopher.
@IrfanKhan-resistance3 жыл бұрын
Either intellectual, speculative source or mystical source there are chances of being wrong and delusional. Our ego and mystical experiences can deceive us by showing a misleading perception of reality or the way we interprete them or make different judgements. Although mystical experience are more credible and their degree of authenticity may be more perfect compare to reasoning and intellectual approach but the third way is revelation, books and verses from God and this is also a source of truth. So we also can't deny revelation though.
@aishayusuf98193 жыл бұрын
Wow! This is so true!
@Nathouuuutheone3 жыл бұрын
I agree with the distinction but I find "a mystic's source of knowledge is the transcendence of individuality" to be woefully vague and pretentious
@Nathouuuutheone3 жыл бұрын
@AAH Replies my problem is mostly that it's an alledged "source" of "information" and that it's presented as just as valid as shared, observable and testable experiences. Regardless of wether magic/divinehood (or something akin to it) is real, people claiming a personal experience that "transcends individuality" as proof of some arbitrary superstition are a massive red flag by default. It comes with layers impossible to unpack, and regardless of how true the claim is, is always hindered by a multitude of really frustrating human biases. Phrasing anything "transcending individuality" as a source of information is inherently problematic and almost always pretentious (as not all mystics can be right if their claims are opposed, so at least most of them must be lying in one way or another)
@Nathouuuutheone3 жыл бұрын
@Resident Zero revelations for which of the millions of completely inconsistent experiences across the world? And then what other claims come with it? What happens when some of those claims can be empirically disproven? What happens when regardless of proof, the beliefs are enforced on vulnerable people and have measurable negative impacts on people and society? Between history, sociology, psychology and the rest of science, "I had a mystical experience" isn't worth much. It's certainly not an excuse to throw away logic. Humans are proven to be super good at being delusional. It's normal. Even arrogant shits like me have to deal with it. We should fight against make-believe specifically because we're vulnerable to it.

@Hunna hasanat !!!! Did you even watched the video? he is 1000% Muslim Sunni muwahied . at the start of the clip he did emphasize on his teaching are pure within the lines of Shariea . The later is a philosophical look in the depth of reality to make sense of the reason of the creation. It’s all in the heart and purification of the soul while the shariea is the lighthouse that keeps you anchored from straying in this ocean of thoughts. You are in no place to pass that judgment not by knowledge nor by authority. You should try to be a better Muslim instead of dabbling in these risky subjects of “ takfeer”.
@abhattab4 жыл бұрын
@Hunna hasanat I don’t see wrong in his description of Adam as the pupil of the eye , on the contrary I see it inline with what he is trying to convey “ the universe is created لتحقيق ربوبية الرب " and that is a concept that actually makes a lot of sense and rational. When you take the words in literal YOU are the one who stepped in the wrong (e.g. The God see , not like our sight yet he see , He gets angry not like the feeling of anger that we feel . “ وليس كمثله شيئ") So if you took these examples literal you wronged and based on your analogy You are a Mushrek . Yet we don’t as Muslims. And we don’t say you are mushrek ( yet) . what I get from Ibn Arabi is the importance of the observer . e.g. there is a planet 1000 light year away . So so beautiful with astonishing colorful environment but we have no idea it exists. One day it was destroyed with an asteroid. And we still don’t know about it. So what difference dose it make ! The beauty has no meaning if it was not observed. That is the concept so Adam is the pupil that observes the majesty of the Almighty. The dude is trying to do you good and use words to describe things can only be experienced first hand only ( like a near death experience, it doesn’t matter what I tell you about it , you’ll never get it unless you live it ) . And I stopped reading any criticism of Islamic Sufism after hearing the golden rule of Sufism “ whenever you see something contradict the shareiaa abandon it . “Whenever your logic guides you against Quran , know that you strayed . “ When you get in a vision a release from any of the Islam obligations know that that’s a shaytan” e.g. a man in his meditation sees light telling him “ we heard your prayers and we relief you from woudou “ then that is Shaytan because: 1-Allah would never speak to us humans . 2- woudou is a must for prayer in Islam . you shall never reach to a point contradict Quran or sunnah . So I hope you reflect on your claims and try to be a better Muslim .

One of the best things I ever watched. I will remember this hour. I have been trying to write about these things and speak about them in a modern context. I didn’t know about Ibn ‘Arabi. The symbols used are different but it’s essentially the same thing as I was thinking studying brains and evolution. I actually had tears because watching this at this time I realized truly how much god loves me and how much I love god. I spoke all these words and I felt at one with the vast universe a few months ago and I will never forget that journey in the desert. I see the films of god and I see the symbols play out through me. I can tell you in phone-book volumes about the symbol of the tree. In just one tree, you can see the glory of what exists beyond our spacetime bubble. I had not seen anyone or anything else who knew about that. Every day god is moving and speaking over and over-have you counted the trees? Have you counted the flowers who open upon sunrise and who pray for the coming of the angels, offering their sweet nectar of faith to the darkness for they have no eyes? Their whole being is eyes. Anyway thank you so much for your love and sharif ng of these things. You are a wonder, and I do not feel so alone. Perhaps the struggle is worth it and I will fulfill my purpose.

Coming from a place of very little knowledge of the faith however a lot of respect, I’ve gotten to know quite a few muslims and have always enjoyed our conversations and the things I’ve learned from them, I’ve always been treated well by the ones I’ve known and know. There is an immense amount of rich and beautiful history you’ve brought to life for me through these wonderfully curated and very well presented lectures. Thank you for expanding my knowledge and helping me to understand this rich culture,

@Muhammad-pz1bp Жыл бұрын
@@himmsingz others religions are falses because they worship idols and images , they dont worship the creator directely , they make statues and worship them , for exemple Hindus worship millions of gods in images of animals , wich are creations not creator , Christians worship Jesus a palestinian man who was a prophet , Buddhists worship Buddha who was a man not the creator , Jews worshiped Ezra and rabbis , so only the muslims worship the creator directely without associating partners with the creator , no idols no images , and islam was the first religion from the time of Adam and Eve , Islam is an Arabic word meaning submit to the God , All prophets submitted to the God so by definition they were muslims .

@@andra1110 Interesting idea, however as Filip noted in the video, Ibn 'Arabi was by no means the first to think this up. Christian Gnostics had been arguing about this since at least 400 AD. And the Chinese had been doing it (via Daoism) possibly as early as 500 BC. Edit: and even when I myself was a youth I had similar thoughts about how all things must truly be unified if there is an omnipotent being--such that we ourselves are even a part of it. I would assume tens of millions of humans (if not more) throughout history have independently had similar ideas.

@@qalat23 That means u didn't understand Rumi. Being religious doesn't mean hating and discriminating people of other religions. Religion is just a set of moral principlels and framework to conduct good actions and bring purity to your soul. Spirituality without religion can't exist as an independent entity. One claiming spirituality doesn't make him spiritual. They just speak in air. Their actions are still contradictory to their believes. Spirituality needs a lot of discipline, asceticism, control on desires, holding aspirations, lust. Meditation, yoga, praying, serving people and being selfless. Comparatively, Islam is more complete and advance in terms of living accordingly to spirituality. Although I belive in Hinduism, budhism, jainism, Christianity and Judaism also. I read all religions, I like all religions. All have some form of Truth and no religion is completely wrong.
@qalat233 жыл бұрын
@@IrfanKhan-resistance I'm amazed by your acceptance of other faith se them as set of guidelines and moral principles. The point is that you're born in Islamic country and Islamic family since your birth until now you been heard and exposed the truth of Islam and how it is complete holy book in your subconscious mind and no matter how intellectual are and become your work, analyses, thought processes would be under direct influences of your subconscious mind set. I think sufisim, darvish is another form of denial of religious and faith itself. The reason is that even today one cannot reject religion openly within families and societies, communities, why because no one wants to be killed or stoned. Here is home work for you this is Rumi from 13th century Not Christian or Jew or Muslim, not Hindu, Buddhist, Sufi, or Zen. Not any religion or cultural system. I am not from the east or the west, not out of the ocean or up from the ground, not natural or ethereal, not composed of elements at all. I do not exist, am not an entity in this world or the next, did not descend from Adam and Eve or any origin story. My place is the placeless, a trace of the traceless. Neither body or soul. I belong to the beloved, have seen the two worlds as one and that one call to and know, first, last, outer, inner, only that breath breathing human being.

Do you believe in Nobility of Souls in Hinduism? The North African Sufis did, they said basic mainstream Islam is good for the uneducated masses, but Sufism is the way for the Noble ones who God raised above others. In my opinion modern Islam tried to equalize people too much and now we just have the doctrine of the masses, I.e the lowest common denominator

@@qalat23 Actually Fitr is about the recognition of Unity of Allah and Tawheed. All the other details is fake things from things outside of Quran. Abd Al Qadir considered Hindus as Believers if they only made supplication to Brahman and not the lower deities,because the only one worthy of worship is Allah/Brahman/Al-Haqq/The Unity of multiplicities..
