Mr. Narrator, kudos to you but, a point of correction ; the Shonekan, interim government didn't resign voluntarily as you mentioned or want to make people believe. It was toppled or forced to resigned by Gen. Abacha. So, it's tantamount to a coup d'etat in all sense and ramifications!

My father's civil engineering business practically died under IBB's rule and so did so many other businesses. the Nigerian brain drain to Europe and the West that we are still experiencing up till today began in the late 80's at the height of SAP. @tobadada41593 жыл бұрын
@@diallobiggestfan sap is acronym for what the imf calls Structural Adjustment Program which was an economic strategy proposed to the Nigerian government under IBB. You'll have to do some reading online to get details. However the reality was it was pretty bad for the Nigerian economy. Toxic to say the least. It mandated that we put the Naira through a severe devaluation process. Corruption was already a huge problem then. IBB made it worse with obscene contract kickbacks. I mean there is too much to share for this platform. The manufacturing sector collapsed . I still remember a headline from 89 or so that had inflation at over a thousand percent. You will better appreciate that if you understand a double digit inflation is a terrifying thing for any economy. Now imagine a four figure. Anyway, I'm no historian. This is all I can share. Google may help with better details. And of course on top of all that he annulled the most free and fair election we've ever had.

But you know who would have been using package/parcel bombs in the 1980s? South Americans! Specifically Colombians. I think the Colombian angle was not investigated. Dele Giwa likely got caught in the crosshairs of a Colombian drug cartel. It is they who bumped him off. The use of a parcel bomb was designed to warn off other journalists in Africa, that they (the cartel) could get anyone, anywhere, anytime.
