This book was a life-changer for me. I'd been struggling for years as a young person, thinking repentance was at the heart of the gospel, but when had I ever repented enough? Drummond reminded me that LOVE is the heart of the Good News, and it has been a journey of a lifetime, walking with the Lover of my soul, ever since!

I discovered this in book form in my youth, and it was a dramatic turning point for me. Somehow I had the mistaken notion that repentance was the heart of the Good News, and I was beating myself up trying to figure out how I could ever repent ENOUGH...what a joy to discover the real heart of the One who IS Love, our Lord Emmanuel, God with us.

Dr. Baxter's father (Batselll Baxter) was the first President of George Pepperdine College in Los Angeles, California in 1939. He (Dr. Batsell Barrett Baxter) later also taught at Pepperdine and later became the Head of the Bible Department at David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee. In that position (which he held for many years) he was also the Minister of the Highland Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee where he served for many, many years until his death in the early 1980's.

You understand. I believe that the irony is that the west sent missionaries to Africa. They now have the deepest understating of the Gospel in the entire world. Africa is poised to change the world for God. Could be wrong of course. Or not.
