I made these for my homemade table saw, but they can be fitted to nearly anything that has legs. I used 1/4" hardware, but if you want something more robust, 3/8" can be used instead. The foot pads were cut with a 2-1/4" hole saw from 1/2" Baltic birch plywood.

@@rayc.1396 Simplicity is my number one priority. For that reason I don't care for saw stops. But it does manage to be a safety feature that is unintrusive to the user, which is the best kind of safety feature. When a safety feature inconveniences the user, it's a bad safety feature. I'm looking at you blade guards and riving knives.

I made feet like this for my workbench a few years ago. Made them with used hockey pucks, 7/8" bolts into 4"x4" bench legs. I welded a thick washer to a nut then recessed them into the legs in place of a t-nut. Needed feet that could hold a lot of weight without sliding on smooth concrete.
@binnsbrian5 жыл бұрын
What a pucking good idea.
@kenjoe5 жыл бұрын
The problem with that is that there is no way to ensure your 'used hockey pucks' are not infected with Dutch Puck Disease. That is how the Emerald Ash Borer is being spread - taking ash to places there is no infection. Now you are proposing transporting possibly infected pucks to areas with no infection. Have you noticed how the price of pucks has gone up over the last few years? That is because as Dutch Puck spreads, the puck orchards are producing fewer and fewer fresh pucks ... and the NHL keeps buying up the good ones.
@sirmalaki795 жыл бұрын
@@kenjoe That is a problem but I found a way around that by staying away from the NHL stock. I can get young raw pucks from my local minor league orchards. The great thing about having two OHL (Ontario Hockey League) teams and three colleges nearby is a large supply of healthy pucks. They aren't all beat up and infected like professional ones.

I don't get the bonus... was the hot dog just a weird choice, or did you have a "hot dog safety brake" that normally would stop the blade when cutting something this soft, and somehow disable it with this wooden add-on?
@MusicalBox5 жыл бұрын
I wanted to use hockey pucks to make the same kind of ajustable feet a couple years ago. Weird thing is I don't remember if I came up with the idea myself or if I saw it somewhere. Could even be in one of your videos. Who knows. Anyway, turned out I didn't need the feet after all and never made them. Still think pucks would make a good sturdy base for some heavy equipment.

Electrical boxes are critical components of your home's electrical system. But for many DIYers, the wide variety of boxes is bewildering. There are plastic and metal boxes; "new work" and "old work" boxes; round, square, and octagonal boxes; and boxes with load ratings for ceiling fans and heavy light fixtures.Jun 27, 2019 www.thespruce.com › electric... Love the hotdog test. That cracked me up. Now you just need to petition the government to force all table saw makers to use your technology, while suing anyone who makes anything similar. Interestingly, after Volvo patented the 3 point seatbelt, invented by one of their engineers, they allowed all other car makers to use it for free. They felt like the lives it would save were more valuable than the profits they could make. They say it has saved over a million lives. As a retired paramedic, I would say that is a very conservative estimate. I couldn't begin to count the lives I've personally seen saved by the 3 point seatbelt. What stands out more in my memory are the lives needlessly lost by people who refused to use this simple device. If only there was a power tool company who cared more about the fingers of woodworkers than the profits they can make from a certain patented safety device.
