I've got nothing but GRATITUDE for you for posting this. Now I can take my finger off my lip going *bBbBbBbBb!* when it comes to operating IC-7100. Hope to hear you on the HF bands now that I got a rig to go with the Extra-Class ticket. 73 AJ6EY

Tom Just found you and these great videos - had my 7100 for a while. Quick question... Do those 3 register memories for each band clear with power down? Or are they retained until you step on with another push if the button?
@HamRadioA2Z
@HamRadioA2Z 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. Thanks for the kind words. The band registers are retained through power cycles.

Apparently this radio was used for the ARRL response to hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Your video wasn't available and the guys were not necessarily all Icom fluent. Of course, some of them had a hard time. I've since then picked up this radio for mobile and I"m amazed at its complexity and functions available. I think it was a good choice but the guys were a little floored with its complexity. I'm especially wondering about the "duplex" functions, especially as you said they could work on the same vhf band for instance. Usually that wouldn't be possible, so I'll wait for more explanation.

Do you have a video showing the compressor, filters, and noise blanker?

Hi, can you edit the trx memorized freq.(from factory) for repeater stations or one have to allocate a new memory slot for my local repeater? Thanks for your videos! G0VUF

I bought this radio to do HF in a vehicle. I thought the added VHF/UHF bands would be a bonus. However I have no clue how to use D-star. I am looking forward for that video. I am hoping that maybe you can do a D-star only video to help people like myself learn the system. Maybe you have already done a video? Thanks Kevin KA0KAE

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I will be doing something on D-Star at least regarding the settings with the 7100. I wasn't planning to make this a whole series about D-Star. I will see what I can find as I know there are a number of D-Star tutorial videos out there. I will be sure to reference any I find that seem pretty good. 73, Tom WA2IVD

@@HamRadioA2Z Thanks! What I am finding is no one is doing videos anymore on D-Star. I just would like to see something recent. Maybe there is no need as it hasn't changed since the circa 2013 videos that really go in depth on the technology and how to set it up that I fond that was a three part video that i think the videos were about 45 minutes each. I will have to go look at them again. Kevin KA0KAE

Did you do the mod to bring the 7100 up to full power? I heard the radio has a issue with putting out 100 W on SSB. Mine peaks at 45W on USB and LSB

I am not aware of any mod and I haven’t had any issue with my 7100 not reaching full power on sideband. Maybe this was an issue on earlier model radios?

What I meant to say is earlier runs of the 7100.

HamCuredSmoke It’s good to know that newer versions of the 7100 don’t have the power output issue it would be nice if you could make a video I’d like to see it before I make this purchase...

I very much like your presentations except for one aspect. Your hand and fingers are often just waving around in front of the camera and obscuring what you are doing. Suggest you keep them out of the way unless it is needed to press a button or screen function. Also, just slow hand movements so they are not wipping around as that is VERY annoying. I like your use of a soft pointer to tap screen functions but if you would use your left hand and approach from above, we could actually see which spots you are touching instead of it being obscured by the pointer body, hand, fingers or all three. This is ment as construtive feedback and not as a stab at your techniques. I have been using my IC-7300 for over three years and the similarities of the IC-7100 are so comforting. I just bought a used IC-7100 so your A-Z approach is very helpful. 73

Hi Mark. Thanks for the feedback. No offense taken. I am aware of this and try to make sure I don’t cover the display, but sometimes I get caught up in what I’m explaining and forget.

Good video mate, but piss off that combo pen-touch screen pointer that you are using and use a proper one that has the touch screen pointer at the front end and not at the back end like ur using! This will give you more length, help move your hand and fingers out of the way, & not have that pocket clip blocking the camera! It’s common sense buddy. Take more care, be aware, and remain focussed!!
