Thanks! It took much longer than expected (and took a great toll on my sanity) but the end result is pretty sick!

Both inspiring and super cool! I really enjoyed the JPCoovert video so this was a great addition to this style of DM screen. Not many videos/tutorials like it!

I thought after seeing him do such a great job it would be refreshing to see someone fail so miserably on their first go, you know? That's the reason 🤣

Thanks for sharing. Definitely looks great! Glad you were able to preserver 😁Edit: Also, yes, definitely would consider making one of my own. Although, I like laying mine down flat, so I might change some things.

I think it looks great! I just made one for my new campaign! The whole campaign is based on art from one of my favorite artists’s zodiac series + magic the gathering art, so I printed them off with Shutterfly, modpoged them on, and made myself a 75% sized GM screen custom for this campaign!

I'm really happy with the second attempt. The first attempt will forever live in my shame cupboard 😅

Very nice. Fortunately, my own experience went a bit better than yours. Back in December, the 5E campaign I was DMing was winding down and our group decided to switch to Pathfinder 2E for our next campaign, and I realized I needed a GM screen for Pathfinder. But rather than buy a Pathfinder GM screen, I decided to make my own. And I realized if I did it right, I could use the same screen for multiple games. Like you, I went with a four-panel screen. But I bought four 9x12 canvas boards. They are a bit thicker than a typical screen material, but not exceptionally so. I also decided to use the default way to stick everything together in the 21st century... duct tape. But I searched high and low and finally found some duct tape that had a wood grain pattern to it, so at first glance, it looks like my screen is wooden. Across the top of the middle two panels on the "outside" and across the top of all panels on the "inside," I put a strip of metal under the tape and bought some small magnets, so I can stick temporary notes/pictures/etc. if the need arises (I haven't used it much, but I have it). I then fastened document protectors (with some careful cutting to remove the part that normally lets you put them into 3-ring binders, leaving just the "envelope") on the front and back of all four panels, allowing me to swap out the artwork on the outside and the information on the inside as needed. I did learn the hard way that glue would not hold the document protectors on, so I had to get some "craft dots." They worked, but I might have used way more than I needed. But it only takes seconds to change it to a completely different game. Later, I realized that the duct tape was coming undone a bit at the corners, so I bought some large metal book corner protectors and stuck them on the four outer corners. I would have done it to begin with if I had thought of it. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but I did make one mistake. As I attached each panel, I flexed what I had done to make sure they folded up properly. But after I was done, I thought I'd reinforce the entire thing (and make it look a bit neater) with one long strip of tape across the entire top and one across the entire bottom. And... it's not a disaster, but one or both of those strips made the areas between the panels a bit smaller than they should be, meaning it doesn't quite fold up flat on it's own, although a little weight causes to to flatten sufficiently, so it's not harder to transport. Still, I've used it every week for around six months for two different gaming systems, and hope it will hold up for a long time to come.

What kind of tape did you use to connect the panels?
@IcarusGames

I used blue painters tape ☺️

@@IcarusGames Huh, isn't painters tape really weak? I'd be worried it would rip or peel. Is there a reason to use that kind of tape over something more durable, like gaffer tape or bookbinding tape?
@IcarusGames
@IcarusGames 6 ай бұрын
@@nitehood108 the painters tape is all I had on hand. If I was buying tape especially I'd get something stronger for sure, but I added plenty to the hinges and it seems to be holding up fine so far.

Is that not hard board and not chip board? I can't see any wood chips it.
@IcarusGames

It was labelled as chipboard when I bought it 🤷‍♂️ either way, it's the stuff you get at the back of a legal pad/notebook and is pretty readily available on Amazon.
