I'd like to see further developments to flesh out the tech trees... invention of the wheel, the plow and yoke, development of fishing nets or hunting traps, atlatl and hunting bow. I'm also curious if diplomacy/alliances with neighbouring tribes could be improved. Lastly, I'm curious about the religious aspects of the game. Maybe a knowledge tree to train shamans and priests? Medicinal healing to improve sleep, morale, HP?
@Mvdgh8 ай бұрын
I don’t think they should add extra service buildings but rather expand on the homes. Like add “upgrades” to them so you could add a specific storage/crafting/ect. In the home for maybe the cost of a sleeping spot and obv some resources. They could also maybe let you designate a building as a hunting lodge or a farm hut to add storage and maybe boost local agriculture/hunting.

@nvelsen197511 ай бұрын
It's quite okay, but in a 'good enough' sort of way. What there is, is balanced out and you can end up hurting yourself with incorrect labour distribution or not paying attention. Like interaction with other people is limited to set-period one trader showing up, and raiders appear on your map. And that's the entire trade and combat mechanic.
@SilverionX10 ай бұрын
It's a good game, there's just no challenge at all and that's coming from someone who is quite bad at RTS and city builders. It has so much promise but I just want more of everything. I'd recommend it on sale if you want a few hours of fun because the core gameplay is good, in my opinion. It's actually on sale right now for 10.49€ which is a quarter of Ancient Cities.

So awesome that they expanded the map. Basically first neolithic mega cities were in the east, if we take a look at Cucuteni-Trypilia culture covering modern Romania and Ukraine. Not to mention some newly researched locations such as Cornești-Iarcuri(although this one is somewhere at the end of neolithic. How awesome if they will make events such as indo-european migration.

The timing of the game is dead wrong, and that show lack of knowledge on the part of the devs. The 1500s BC in Europe was their Bronze Age, and they were most definitely living in far more advance and organized civilizations and cultures. In the Pontic Steppe, for instance, they were engaging in fast chariot warfare and shooting bow and arrow from horseback. They were living in fortified towns with organized religions, mercantile society and organized warfare.

I'm always looking at location strategically with a view to defence, and right off the bat I think you've made a mistake - that narrow neck of land between two rivers only has a short land boundary that needs to be defended - I'd have set up close to the narrow gap so that my settlers can easily wall it off in early game, providing much increased security to the settlement between the two rivers. There's ample space for a city there, a secure water supply nearly all the way around and less to defend in the future.

This is all wrong. The devs clearly have no idea about the timeline of European prehistory. In 1555 BC Europeans were most definitely NOT hunting dogs as they were domesticated and being used as hunting partners and companions/pets. They were solidly in the end of the Bronze Age by 1500 BC which began in Europe around 2500-3000 BC, transitioning into the Iron Age. They had had domesticated dogs for 10,000 years, at least as far back as 6,000 BC or as early as 14,000 BC, based on some evidence. The culture and tribal society portrayed here is woefully anachronistic. Even in the end of the Neolithic the Europeans were engaging in copper smelting and forging, creating tools and weapons, even though they did still use stone tools. The devs have a painfully obvious presentism bias, which is making them portray the Ancient Europeans as "primitives" when they were most assuredly not. They also were not hunting horses by this late stage as they had been domesticated for more than 2000 years, and were used as transportation, to speed trade, and as pack animals. They were using fast chariots pulled by horses and engaging in organized warfare from a foundation of highly stratified societies, not living in the dirt.
