If there’s a fish that swims, Jay Siemens needs to catch it. In his new series, The Canadian Angle, Jay takes us along for the ride in search of walleye, bass, pike, musky, and everything in-between. New episodes every Friday at 11am MST.
Jay Siemens heads out with his wife Samantha to spend the night out on the ice. Jay not only goes through A-Z on how to make an overnight ice camping experience comfortable and safe, but also shares some ice fishing tips and tricks to land some big walleye along the way.

A tip on winter camping in general never rely on your heater always make sure your sleep system (quilt and pad) will handle the Temps you expect without a heater for safety especially if you are in a remote area.

Biggest brown trout I've landed 9lb was on a 1/32 tungsten gold jig with 3lb test while jigging for perch. 2 perch on the ice and what looked like a log on the vex came by and bam! Nearly spooled 3 times and about 15 minutes later a tail grabbed giant was mine.

That heater also has a built in safety. If the oxygen gets too low it shuts off. Flair had a video and couldn’t figure out why it went out and wouldn’t restart. It shut off. But ventilation is always good along with the detector vomit the safety does work.

whats the stet up time for that shelter? Erecting the shelter and driving the stakes basically? Not including all the interior adds like cot, sleep bags, etc. I can see that being a great additional shelter or kitchen area for a late season winter hunt instead of an ez up if it provides a bit more insulation value.
