The most interesting was definitely the Common one for me because no one could see that one coming plus Common was known as a conscious rapper yet he singlehandedly murked a whole crew that had Cube who was a proven battle rapper. Its like if De La Soul would've responded to Pac and dismantled him completely.

I'm from the West Coast, and I never felt like Common disrespected us. He proved it in his lyrics referencing the West from the jump. So It's good to finally hear Cube say that "beef" wasn't warranted. Cause boooy, that "Bitch In Yoo" by Common Sense was a monster!! Sheeesh! Lol

Common said black music is black music and it’s all good he wasn’t salty she was with the Boyz from the hood. I Used To Love H.E.R. was a track most hip hop heads could relate to. Cube and them probably thought Common would be a pushover. B!tch In Yoo definitely one of hip hop’s most underrated diss records.
@dawb86
@dawb86 4 жыл бұрын
@Two Cents They thought it was a diss just like NYC thought "New York, New York" by Dogg Pound was a diss. "New York, New York, big city of dreams/and everything in New York ain't always what it seems/You might get fooled if you come from out of town/but I'm down by law and I'm from the Dogg Pound." That's the ultimate respect for the Big Apple but in those early days of subliminal disses you had to be real careful and sometimes things got taken out of context, plus our favs was honestly just young at the time.
@twocents6951
@twocents6951 4 жыл бұрын
dawb86 Well considering The Dogg Pound already had a prior incident in NY it probably had a lot to do with people opinion on the record. I never thought it was a diss personally. It wasn’t until they shot that video that I looked at it differently. Someone like Common is from Chicago and has nothing to do with any beef. He’s completely neutral and a innocent bystander lol. I guess in retrospect guys were young and they didn’t make the best decisions. That includes mostly everyone.
@dawb86
@dawb86 4 жыл бұрын
@Two Cents But the whole reason the video got shot like that was because Dogg Pound got shot at lol. Like Cube said, everyone's ears were kind of sensitive in that era because all of a sudden people were making underhanded comments that seemed like they were going at gangster rap, which seemed to really be a shot at west coast artists in general. Sadly a lot of artists just got caught up in it and couldn't see the bigger picture.
@twocents6951
@twocents6951 4 жыл бұрын
dawb86 I know why the video was shot like that but again guys were young and they didn’t make the best decisions. If they were really trying to honor NY maybe they should of had a NY artist or two on that record and then shot a video for it. It would be hard to misinterpret it at that part. Cube had some nerve being sensitive because he was one of the west coast artist that actually got love out here. Like I said in a previous post. If they felt certain people were disrespectful to west coast artists just say their names and single them out. Leave NY out of it. It was just a big mess.
@dawb86
@dawb86 4 жыл бұрын
@Two Cents That was the original video treatment. To get cats they fucked with like Big L and Nas in the video. When they went out there to start shooting scenes, B.I.G. gets on the radio and is pissed saying "New York, stand up." He thought Pac was going to be at the set with them. That's why they got shot at. After that it felt like cats they was supposed to be cool with was on some hater shit and they changed it up. I was always shocked Snoop could still be cool with B.I.G. after that even though it was an accident but as we know, that's why Pac ended up on bad terms with Snoop when he died. Either way, there's a LOT of people to this day pretending they weren't taking subs on the low in freestyles and on record but hey, the past is the past, just learn from it I suppose...

BReal was supposed to be in the first Friday movie but was not able to make the movie because cypress hill manager messed up and scheduled shows in Europe during the filming. Cube got little bothered by this. So B real wanted to make it up by giving Cube a song CH just made. Cube ended up hearing couple other tracks on the album and liked a specific track which cube asked for CH said no but while CH was touring in Europe B REAL got a call in middle of the night from some homies saying they heard the track on the radio but with different lyrics but similar chorus on the track that cube wanted but CH said no. So CH felt that cube stole that track and changed the lyrics before CH was able to release that album.
