Watching your fishing exploits is fun! I live in a place with a major river and dam so we have open water all winter long yay! I used to love icefishing when I lived in Minnesota but once I moved back to South Dakota and discovered how to catch winter walleyes with big crankbaits I gave up icefishing completely! I cast in blizzards and negative windchill nights and catch the biggest fattest wallies I'm Jan and Feb! I am on FB if you wanna see

I've had a lot of late night drives through northern Michigan and the upper peninsula. My go-to is always sunflower seeds to keep me awake. Might be tough to eat those and film, but if you're ever in a similar stay awake situation you could try those out as well! Might be better than 3 energy drinks within 6 hours lol
@kava89024 жыл бұрын
I agree with Sam sometimes it's better to leave things alone. Especially with a dead stick. I see a lot of people grab the dead stick when a fish is coming in and start moving the bait. The fish was interested already without the fisherman doing anything. Often sees this spooks them, obviously not always.

To keep rod from going in, if you put your dead stick on a pale or milk crate you can put a short bungee cord on it and tuck the back part of the handle under it. This will keep only being pulled down and less likely to be pulled forward and in. This also still allows it to be quickly retrieved to pull the fish up.

I've worked a 10 gotten off stayed up was asked to go ice fishing waited 6 hrs to go out finally went out for another 8ish didn't go to bed then went out the next morning and in total was awake for around 48 hrs. I've also done the same thing but gone to the river for salmon and steelhead and its way easier being able to move around then sit still. Its defiantly hard to do it by yourself and ice fishing without moving around to stay on a good bite is probably the hardest.

You know, given my age, and I'm a widower with a few cats,...I could happily live in a place like that!!
