99% of you probably already know, but for the folks that aren’t 100% sure, yessir this was shot on late ice last season! Hopefully it gets you amped up for some hardwater fishing that’s just around the corner!

Having the Livescope overlay on top of the video while you're jigging is dope! I don't think it's too distracting as it's mainly on the bottom of the screen. Reminds me of watching a football game with the score at the bottom

Thanks Aaron. I’m liking it so far. I’ll probably keep doing it for the next few videos at least.

Here are some ice camping tips for greatly reducing or stopping water from forming. Make sure the whole floor is covered with mats or you will wake up in a puddle of water. By covering the whole floor with mats the heat will have a very hard time getting through the mats. I keep my heater on a crate and I have my fan blow from the bottom upwards so there is a more even distribution of heat. Try it and tight lines this season.

Appreciate the tips! Sounds like I definitely need to order some more mats!

I've camped a ton and never had water. Bring enough foam mats to fill up 90% of the floor, fan blowing down. Its a bit more to carry the mats but you will wake up to warmth and walking in your slippers on the floor, dry as can be. Also, that Buddy Flex is not enough heat for a 6 side i've learned, running a heat hog 18000btu this year and will be perfect. Also, i've always kept the heater on the floor. Good luck.

Another great video, Nick! I camp all the time, myself. Usually 3 one week trips each season. The difference between us, though, is that you're a gear minimalist... I'm the opposite. I have full sized 4 door truck and I pull an open snowmobile trailer... I wouldn't be able to squeeze an extra piece of paper into my truck once I'm fully loaded. 😂😂😂
@NickLindner
@NickLindner Жыл бұрын
Haha I feel ya! I look at everything in the tent and feel like it’s a LOT of stuff, but realistically, it’s a fairly small amount of gear compared to what I probably could/would have brought out in a truck!

I live on the middle part of Sak and its awesome having so much water available but access can be difficult in some of the more remote bays as well as ice conditions. Hopefully the lake levels stay higher this winter and walleye start moving into some of those bays.

I got myself a Teton -35 bag. Like sleeping in a coffin. Tons of room and extremely warm. I also have the water issue at times. I built myself a foldable wood sub floor I can put down. Throw some snow over the area, put the floor down over the snow then your rubber mats and your are high and dry.
@NickLindner

its annoying to pack and prep but if you double layer the whole floor (except holes obv.) with the foam matts it helps a ton with melt and condensation. since doing this i get a dry heat instead of a cold sauna.
@NickLindner
@NickLindner Жыл бұрын
I’ve considered that! How much does it help overall with the melt? Does it completely stop it? Also, does it need to be everywhere, including under the bed and around the outside edges, etc.?
@thegreatpotatokitty8196
@thegreatpotatokitty8196 Жыл бұрын
helped me a lot. i completely cover the floor other than four 10 inch holes cut through the floor matts. i have a non insulated shelter and a huge heater and melt was horrible before, now i only get a little melt at my holes.@@NickLindner

You need to cover more floor space with mats and that will help with insulating the ice and less of it will melt

Big budddy heaters are the worst when you dont prime them in room temp before you head out. Nothing worse than opening the tank in zero temps and that thing wont light the pilot. Its a must to make sure its pulling propane or youll be in misery for the first hour of your trip.
