Ice Fishing New Water 2020!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Earlier this year during the late ice time period, I decided to head up into the Northwoods to try my hand at some new water. As luck would have it, I was able to find a mess of crappies (medium sized) and some odd balls while experimenting and trying to learn something new!
Ice is coming soon here to the Winnebago System. As we get closer, there will be some more videos coming at least every Thursday. Hope you all are doing well... Bring on the ice!!

Nothing better than exploring a new lake and catching fish. Something special about fishing those northern lakes. The solitude is priceless. An experience to draw on and daydream about when times ain't the going your way. Great vidieo!

Great video. Any chance you could show how you built your ski system? I have an old set of skis and I want to build something for my 1 man for early season when there’s snow but it’s only safe to walk out. It’s a real pain trying to pull the entire surface area of a sled through the snow. Thanks!

Google Smitty Sled. They work great. You can pull your entire sled with one finger on the rope.

I'm here on the Winnebago chain myself & do a lot of Icefishing All over Winnebago co. & the surrounding counties. There are some real Nice crappie in the Bago system since the whitebass numbers are way down again. I Hope to see ya out there this year. Tightlines ! Peace bro !

You may have covered this but what is the "swivel" looking piece between the 1st and 2nd eyelet? Assuming it helps with ice build up? Maybe for a leader? Thanks in advance!

That’s just a small swivel I reeled up too far into the eyelets haha. I have it in there to minimize line twist.

Love it. Unfortunately, as of now, Frabill doesn’t make a current model so no way to purchase. I wear this spring fishing too as it’s the only one certified as a life jacket by the US Coast Guard!
