2020 Burbot / Eelpout Ice Fishing with Underwater Camera!

Each year on Lake Winnebago, we are given a small window to actually target the system's Burbot, Eelpout, Lawyers, Ling... whatever you want to call them!
During this week to two week time period, usually in mid-February, the fish flock to rocky structures throughout the lake for their yearly spawning ritual. After their mission has been accomplished, they slide right back into the murky depths of the system, rarely to be caught the rest of the year.
While these are technically considered a "rough fish" on our system, I can't stress it enough to only take a few for a yearly meal, not to mention I have found their meat to not like the freezer that much. I personally treat these as a game fish and would like to see a stronger population on our system.

Yea, in Wisconsin, it is illegal to snag fish. No matter of organ, it is illegal for everyone in Wisconsin.

Burbot are not eel pout. Eel pout are in salt water near Europe.

Hey I just found out you haft to pay to fish the new peirs in winneconne. Its complete BS that they did this. Just a heads up I hope someone does something about it. The best I can do is email and call.
