That's awesome. Been so tempted to get an UW drone but they're pricy and moreover I wasn't convinced on the picture quality of any of the ones that weren't insanely expensive. But that looked otherworldly. Never would've thought about the size of the hole needed to fit the drone down there though...becomes an issue with a manual auger and 3-4ft of ice. Good on you for thinking about barotrauma. I had heard that reeling them in slowly can make barotrauma worse because it gives their swim bladder more time to expand. And that the best practice is a quickly land and release. But obviously you've heard otherwise. Wish we could know for sure...I would hate to be trying to do it right, and actually doing it wrong.

Love the under water footage👌 its amazing to see whats down under, as to the white fish bends, is there any tell tale signs that you pull it up too quick?
@SeabassOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Take your time. Raise the fish up slow see how I take my time. Deeper the slower or they may not be able to burp and will be stuck floating

What kinda drone?
@peterb.saloom86674 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure you would need to reel a fish in much slower than that to allow their bodies to acclimate to the pressure changes.
@Big_Friendly4 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. I'm in Minnesota with mostly crappie and perch around here, so it might be different. I don't have lake trout or whitefish in my area. But with crappies and perch from water around 25-30 foot and deeper, it takes several hours to acclimate against barotrauma. Maybe whitefish are better at it?
@peterb.saloom86674 жыл бұрын
@@Big_Friendly I think that might be the case. I don’t have experience with whitefish and if they are especially good at adjusting maybe its ok. Not my experience with any other species of fish though.

Not sure who told you reeling them up slow will help them but it won't. You would need to reel for over 3 hours. If you decide to fish deep keep what you want and move
@SeabassOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Not sure where you gathered this information. These fish aren’t like humans you bring them back slow and it’s fine. You can argue with the graph all you want but seems like your making an un educated comment here!

@@skyler4980 Ya me too now, but I used to be guilty of catching deep crappies. Haven’t since I saw that anglers Edge video a few years ago. White fish might be different and have that bladder release deal🤷♂️
